Operation last week and eating a lot today anyone else had this

Recommended Posts

Hello my name is James, I had my operation bypass last Tuesday, So exactly a week ago, It was a revision from the sleeve gastrectomy to RNY bypass. My problem is I don't feel any different and I'm still able to eat a fair bit the good thing is I have no pain at all from day one. I'm very concerned that it may not work for me. Can anyone tell me of this similar experiences and if I am just worrying about something that should have felt like it was when I had the sleeve done

Well for one the nerves were cut that goes to your pouch and can take up till 2-3 months to heal. That is why it is SO VERY important for you to measure everything at this stage! Most hunger at your stage is head hunger. Just make sure you are getting all your fluids in

Even if you can eat a lot, you should not. Just stick with whatever your program dictates and focus on Protein. I had a band revision to bypass and understand your fears, but I think if we stick with the plan as it was laid out we will be fine. I lost 30lbs my first month. I measure my food, time it out, and don't eat a bite more than the 3-4 oz I was allotted. Good luck! I feel so much better this time around!

The first week out, I felt like I could eat a lot and really didn't feel full. That feeling changes as you go. Now I feel full, and really am never hungry. I just know I need to get my Protein in, so I eat. Somedays, I don't even eat but one meal, and then think oh my gosh, I didn't eat! It is a very odd thing, when I used to focus on food all day!

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE TRUTH!!! Please measure everything and do NOT over eat. Your stomach is numb basically. I am 6 wks post-op and this is something I went through. Your stomach is no bigger than an egg so do not fill it more than that ever.

Thanks for your reply. I would have thought I would have felt the same as when I was sleeved. But after a day it felt like nothing was done. Time will tell I suppose. Thanks

Well two weeks out had some scrambled eggs this morning and the first indication of restriction I am so relieved and happy. So what's been happening I feel is the liquid pureed foods I've been on just go straight through but don't give me any restriction after having a few mouthfuls of scrambled egg this morning I can feel the restriction like I did with the sleeve so if anybody else has this problem this is what I have found. IM over the moon that I have restriction now.

This makes me feel better. I'm still on puréed for a few more days and then soft foods. I have to just stop eating when I feel I should as I don't feel full. Hoping, like you, I'll feel fullness when I have real foods instead of mush.

I can definitely eat more soft foods. I try to eat "hard " Protein first then veggies. I can usually only do about two oz hard protein and I'm full.

Hi Jacqueline Yes I was worried that it wasn't going to work with no restriction but yesterday had some more scrambled egg could only get one egg in with some melted cheese on it so looks like it's going to work. Whew. Keep in there. When did you have your operation

Mine was may 30th. I'm not worried it won't work necessarily. I just don't feel when I'm hungry or when I'm full. I have been just eating small amounts as I'm afraid of getting sick. I figured it was because the nerves haven't healed and I just didn't feel fullness. I hope the more solid foods trigger it though.

Just out of curiosity, are you able to eat and drink at the same time? Do you experience any acid or indigestion? That is a big factor for me because I am so accustomed to eating fast and pushing things down with Water or milk. I am petrified about having this revisional surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
