My bowels have been grumbling all day. The weirdest sound just came from my drain and a ton of stuff shot our. Weird. I just took a shower and suspect it was all the moving around

I had mine done robotically and I laid flat just like normal surgery... Weird they would tip you!

Almost all doctors tip the bed

Hi all. I had surgery on Thursday. I was in quite a bit of pain when I woke up from the anesthesia, but that only lasted for a little while. I've been tolerating Water and glucerna in small amounts. I'm so scared to push it. I'm ready to go home but all in all I am feeling pretty good.

In doing better this morning. Yesterday was rough. I was barely able to walk because I was so light headed. Been sleeping a lot. It hurts to drink. Getting cramping in my pouch.

I have been doing ok with fluids I am so scared about getting my pouch too full. I am sleeping pretty good but it seems like the mornings are rough for me. It takes me about an hour to get going.

I slept last night too. I woke up took my BP medication ( crushed in a teaspoon of sugar free applesauce). Then I walked and drank some Water. I had 2 ounces of plain greek yogurt mixed with a teaspoon of sugarfree applesauce. It was great. I almost think the torture of doing thirty days of liquids beforehand makes this part easier. At least I don't have to drink a chocolate Protein Shake. Bleah.

My hubby is running to the store to get bananas. I need potassium so I will have a banana vanilla smoothie for lunch. In the meantime my drain is still cranking out green stuff and the gas and gurgling is much better today. I swear I sounded like a truck driver last night. Lol

Hey. I'm on the way home. Feeling pretty good. Gas pain isn't that bad. I've been tolerating Water and glucerna with no problems. And Popsicles. :-)

Seems we're all feeling good today so far!!! Keep it up!!!

I cannot believe I'm 9 days out and down 14.6 lbs!!! My doctor didn't lie when he said I'd lose 1-2 lbs a day for the first few months!!!

I tried my first Protein Shake since surgery this morning. Felt so heavy compared to the Clear Liquids I've been on for 2 weeks. Lol I made a mistake making it and put a little too much xantham gum in it. It got REALLY thick. Lol almost not good thick. I may toss it all and try a thinner version. I technically wasn't cleared to stop clear liquids, but was told I can start soft foods on Wednesday so I figured I'd give something a little heavier a try and see how it sits. I'm concerned about trying that in the middle of the work week. At least if I get sick today, I am home... I can't imagine a Protein shake is going to kill me. I'm scared my stomachs going to explode or something. Haha

Sounds like everyone is doing well today! I'm so glad to hear it . I too am having a pivotal day. I slept very well last night and I'm feeling good about getting back into my life :) I am back to surgery day weight! But even more noticeably is the way my body's shape feels different to me. It's good from here :) !

surgery date 6/11/13 HW: 364lbs. SW: 335.5

You'll probably be fine. I was on full liquids as soon as I was out of the hospital --- for some people that includes yogurt and pudding but not me. But I've been ok with Protein Shakes and creamier Soups and stuff.

I can't so a super thick shake either. I've been mixing chocolate powder with light chocolate soy milk or vanilla powder with light vanilla soy milk. No thicker than a glass of milk and easy to drink.

That's exactly what I did. I threw my other shake away and made a thin one with 1 scoop chocolate Protein Powder, 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 packet sweetnlow, 2 tbs coffee Creamer, and 1 cup Water. It tastes great!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
