So yesterday I ate 3 bites of my lunch and spent most of the time from 1:30-10:30 in the bathroom puking. I know the food I ate was way too spicy, I bought spicy ground turkey by accident. Today I ate plain canned chicken with mayo and again I feel so bloated and sick. The only difference in my diet is now I'm not on the Prilosec. I got the chewable Pepsid but it's not helping at all. I really hope I don't spend another day sick. I'm 5 weeks out today. Shouldn't my pouch be ready to be off the Prilosec?? I called the surgeons office and they are supposed to be sending out a refill to my pharmacy. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Other than yesterday, which was a fluke, nothing has changed in my diet. I've been fine on most foods, now I feel like everything I eat makes me gassy and nauseous.

Went through this. I ate artichoke hearts and dear Lord I was praying on the toilet. Veggies cause gas unfortunately and its bad can kill a country gas LOL not kidding ask my kids. When I did this I'd stop go back to a brat diet and move back up. I found out I was sensitive to high Protein. I'd get dumping if my protein was higher than 10g. Did any of it contain milk/cheese? Reason I ask is bc I became severe lactose intolerant and Lord have mercy if a cow even looked at me I'd throw up. . .try going back to soft/liquid diet til ur tummy settles. I'm five yrs out and still on nexium. Hang n hon. ((*hugs*))

I'm only 2 1/2 weeks post op and have been on Prilosec then nexium for 10 years plus. My surgeon told me my acid reflux would go away as soon as surgery was done and he was right!! I haven't had any meds since surgery for the acid reflux.... Although I had gastroperesis as well and apparently that was a big factor in having such bad acid reflux, and having the surgery. Good luck and hopefully it will go away soon!

It's not really acid reflux, I guess the pouch is still just too sensitive. It's pressure and pain and nausea. I'd rather have the avid reflux :(

Just went and bought a bunch of Soups to live off of for a week or so, to give more time for my tummy to heal.

I had the same thing last week and I also 5 weeks out. My doc put me on maloox liquid twice a day. It works really well and I am doing great. I also take a protonix. It's not reflux but the pouch is inflamed and the maloox calms it down.

Several people on my other message board swear by papaya enzyme for a temperamental tummy.

May surgeon puts you on Prilosec for the first 12 months post surgery. To help control the acid in your pouch and remnant stomach. Not so much for heartburn but to keep the levels low too prevent ulcers. I didn't have issues with heartburn before, but I take it everyday. It is a 4 dollar prescription. Just a thought that maybe you should be taking it anyways.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
