Just an update :)

Still in hospital. This visit has been since the 25th of March. The doctors are still suspecting a leak. They are trying to give it time to heal' date=' if that is what the outcome is. So I don't have a cat scan leak test until Wednesday of this week. Really at this point the only pain I have is from site where they put a drain tube in last week. I have my pic lines now and must say I absolutely love them. No more pain from blood draws, new ivs, new meds! Of course the most important thing is that I can get nutrients I need from the pic line.

My nurse tonight asked me when my original surgery was. When I told her she said wow its been almost a month since your surgery. (Ok she was exaggerating a bit) Makes me kinda to hmmmmm never thought anything like this would happen to me. So far I have been in the hospital from 3/14-3/18, 3/25-present, I've had more iv lines than I can remember (seriously), I have two pic lines, one drain, numerous chest X-rays, upper gi series with contrast, 4 or 5 cat scans (never had one in my life before this). I know way too many doctors and nurses now by first name! :)

Overall still not an experience I would wish on anyone. Not as hard or bad of a situation I thought it would turn out to be. I never knew how hard this would really be on my family if something went wrong. Ive worried my husband & parents to death! my plans of not telling My Extended family and some of my friends went out the window. had to tell them why I kept staying at the hospital. I'm jealous I'm behind my other 'march' post ops with drinking and eating and even exercising. I hope this motivates me even more that there is no way I would go through this whole situation and not make sure it works for me!

Wow that seems like a long post. Thanks for letting me rant! :) still wishing all the other post ops speedy and non eventful recoveries!!![/quote']

Don't feel behind , I am still sick as anything, I've had one good day since surgery. I can't eat and I have zero engery. Since the 15th, and I've only lost 17 pounds. I am rethinking my decision since I have the other illnesses as well. I am hoping the doctors give me the B12 shots on the 15th I can't even clean the house right now.

Oh janel I'm so sorry to hear that I thought you were doing fine. Hang in there. You'll get better I'm sure everyone's different they told me that in the hospital . Lady next to me was older, had her gallbladder out along with a hernia. She was doing so much better than me! You'll catch up fast just watch.

I am getting so frustrated!! My surgery was 3/25. I have to drink every 15 minutes to get my liquids in. It is all I do. I set the timer, drink, set the timer, drink...

I'm doing the same thing (mine was 3/27). I have the timer set on my phone and every time it goes off I take a drink and reset it. Then repeat, repeat, repeat, etc. But it does seem to help because I am getting all my fluids in.

The timer is the only way I can get my liquids in, but it is a full time job. Will it be this way the rest if my life?

I had my RNY on 3/25 as well. I used my phone timer for about three days. Then just started drinking. I can hold more than 30 ml and do a pinch test periodically but I'm not worried about my liquids. Protein is another story.. I now Hate they protein shakes and unflavored protein... I can't even Look at the containers of powder!!!

One more week of liquid.... Nooooooo :(

Yay!!! Finally the first leak test tomorrow!!! 10am! So excited! First one will be a live one, meaning I will drink the contrast as they begin the ct scan and they will immediately begin to take pictures. Then after that they will do a full ct scan and possibly some X-rays. Surgeons said even if there is a leak it may not be healed up all the way yet. Their guess is I will be here at least until Monday. That's if the leak test goes well, the leak is still healing. That way they can have some time to adjust me to start drinking my liquids. Making sure the liquids go the right way and there are no issues. Cross your fingers!!

:)

I'm a little discouraged I'm almost 3 weeks out and I haven't lost any weight for the last week I know that your body fluctuates but I don't know why I haven't lost anymore. Honestly I am having trouble getting all of the protein in and getting all of the water in but I don't know why that would stop me from losing weight? Any thoughts? Words of wisdom?

I have no idea, but I see the doc Thursday I'm going to ask if that would cause a stall. Hang in there!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes well for you tomorrow. Hopefully you are on your way to recovery after that. You've been through a lot. Healing prayers being sent your way!

So I have found the absolute best sources of protein. Muscle milk chocolate and strawberry are my friends (20G protein) and adkins carmel cafe (15g) and vanilla bean torte nectar mixed with almond milk. I am in heaven now when it comes to getting the protein. Getting 55-60 g in just liquid form then with my string cheese and beans I think I'm at about 70 a day. Now my water that's another story. I loved water before now I just can't get it down. I've been drinking v8 splash diet once a day. And I do not want to see any more crystal light, ugh!!!! Can't wait till my first pre op visiy I get to eat meat after that, pureed of course and mash potatoes! !!

I figured out how to drink without sitting and timing. As soon as you wake up heat up a normal size water bottle in the microwave and add a lemon.crystal light. I find that its easier to sip hot or warm water. This should take about an hour to get down... Set 3 more times throughout the day that you do this. I picked wake time and bed time... Then I take a bottle when I walk and I also sip warm/hot water while I cook. You'll actually be over if you do it this way
