  1. My first pen pal this month was not successful, but I was put in touch with the best pen pal ever!! Rachel Dusi sent the most perfect package filled with lots of protein filled snacks and recipes. I received it on my way out of town headed for the beach so it was perfect to take with me. I can't wait to try the refrigerator oatmeal. Most of all, Rachel has been the best support. She even let me know she would be available for support during my first trip since my surgery and there after. That is invaluable!! Thank you so much Rachel!
  2. Kelly (kdgaines) was my pen pal this month. I first want to wish her good luck on her surgery tomorrow and prayers for a quick, easy, event free recovery as well as prayers for her surgeon and care staff. My box was waiting for me tonight and when I opened the box, I felt so special. I loved the card. She put a note on each item explaining it. There were pens to always write colorfully, stationary to write something special for future pen pals, Protein bars to help when hunger strikes, a head band to keep my hair out of my face while working out, post its to joy down my thoughts, and are you ready?????? She included a SPA KIT to help me relax!!! No one ever thinks of things in my life for "just for me" time. I was blown away by the thoughtfulness!! You are an AMAZING pen pal Kelly!! Thank you so much!
  3. This is my second month participating and I received my first box today. It was worth the wait. I got many different protein options to try and pants in my next sizes along with a BEAUTIFUL dress. Thank you so much Patricia!!
  4. I haven't received my April box, but I would like to participate in May. My email is pbug52@gmail.com
  5. You are very welcome. Good luck.

  7. This is what my surgeon gave me. juice Rule: If the juice has less than 15g of carbs per 8 oz, you do not have to dilute. If the juice has more than 15g per oz., dilute with equal parts of Water. Do not drink more than 4 oz. of either juice per hour.
  8. I showered the next day and back to work in two weeks no problem.
  9. They have me skim milk in the hospital and I have had it every day since without any issues.

I drink the pickle juice for the flavor.
  11. I am getting so frustrated!! My surgery was 3/25. I have to drink every 15 minutes to get my liquids in. It is all I do. I set the timer, drink, set the timer, drink...
  12. I feel like a pin cousin. Had to have my original iv out and they have tried seven times so far to get another one started with no luck. They even used this really cool vein finding machine. I just took advantage of no machines to take a shower and it felt great!! I have to have my third iron infusion tonight )0:
  13. Intravenous iron. My body does not absorb iron and I am very, very low.
  14. Had my surgery yesterday. I had four incisions and two of the hurt really, really bad. The morphine hasn't touched it. I got very nauseated when I got up to walk for the first time yesterday. I made it 100 feet the first time to get the catheter out. I walked two more times - 350 and 700 feet. I am on clear liquids today. One oz every 15 minutes. It goes by FAST! I had an iron infusion last night and will have two more today. Should go home tomorrow around noon.
  15. Am I understanding right that you gain weight right after surgery?
  16. I am so very excited to share my progress with you today. It is amazing what a difference no insulin makes in my weight loss. I weighed last on Wednesday because I had weighed at the doctor’s office on the Wednesday before that and wanted to see what a week did. I lost 8 pounds that week. I switched it to Monday today because my surgery is on Monday in a week so that way I will be on track for Mondays from now on. Long story short (I know, too late) from Wednesday to Monday – 5 days – I have lost 14 pounds. That is 27 pounds on the pre op diet in two weeks and 10 pounds prior to that for a total of 37 pounds all together. Thank you all for your continued prayers.
  17. Are you on a pre op diet?
  18. I am so glad I found this. My date is 3/25. I am getting very excited!!
