Hey Newbies!

April is just two days away! The '06 April bandsters are all shouting out,

"Woohoo!!!"

with excitement and encouragement.

PLEASE get some walking time in before your surgery date. The exercise will help your bodies to be strong and recover quickly. It also diminishes appetite and lifts the mood. Walking will be a key in aiding digestion AND aiding any PB's you may encounter. Also, you can walk the day after. We are inviting you to join in our "April Bandits' Exercise Challenge." The thread will be in the general discussion, just to make it easy to find. We have altered it a bit to accommodate you newbies!

Hang in there!!! It's a new day for you!

Boo

thanks for the encouragement. I had a slight laps in the exercise as i'm trying to get caught up on homework and housework before my surgery, Does shampooing the carpets count as exercise. LOL

I am going for long walks 2x a day when I hit the beach so i hop that helps get me motivated, i come home and have surgery the next day.

I too am self pay.. I was looking into mexico but am having it done in Colorado for 9950.00 that for everything! visits w/the doc, his nutritionist, therapist, surgery, band, 3 months follow up and fills. After the 3 months the fills are a minimal cost.

www.lapbandrockies.com

warning his website is very simple.. not flashy or anything but he is an awesome doc! I have seen him twice and talked to him and his staff many times...

there is a thread under the doctors

Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum.. if interested, go see what lost of others have to say about him!:biggrin1:

<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I am feeling a little panicky right now myself. I am having all kinds of insurance problems because I am doing the lap band as a self pay, and another surgery that the insurance will pay for. I was under the impression that the cost would be less by having both surgeries done at the same time. Now I find out that it is not true. I could go in today and have the band and next week for the hernia surgery and it would be the same price as doing them both together. I found out that I have to pay $15,200 and am seriously having second thoughts about the lap band. I have been freaking out for a few days now. My date is scheduled for April 17th to have the lap band and the hernia repair. Is anyone else having to self pay for the lap band, and if so is my figure in the right ballpark? Thanks for any help!!

Jane

Hi Jane, ffice:office" /><O:p></O:p>

I am self pay my doctor charges $9900. He is in ffice:smarttags" /><ST1:place w:st="on"><?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com><st1:City w:st=Denver</st1:City>, <st1:State w:st="on">CO</st1:State></ST1:place>. Also don’t forget about <st1:country-region w:st="on"><ST1:place w:st="on">Mexico</ST1:place></st1:country-region>. I was scheduled there first for $8500. I choose CO because I live here and it is really convenient and the doctor does $15 fills forever is you are his patient so it the cost seemed to weigh out. Don’t give up. I am scheduled for the 18th of April and still don’t have all the money but I will get…. I know this is what I want. Good luck! <O:p></O:p>

*** Reminder: BEFORE & AFTER PICS ***

Just a friendly reminder to all the April bansters to take your before pictures.

Then we can all post our pics on the before and after thread once we are smaller and foxy. Plus we can motivate others in the process. I don't know about you but that is the thread I go to for motivation. Go Team Go!

Just want to wish all of you a safe surgery, a quick recovery and a wonderful healthy year!

This year has been one of my all time "highs"! Right up there with marriage, children, grandchildren.................with the help of the band and my band friends I'm on the road to healthy older age! I feel great - am a sexy 67 year old grammy with knees and ankles that move, move, move.

Just want to encourage you all to move, move, move - come join our April Bandit's Exercise Challenge................you can walk before surgery, you can walk as soon as you get home from surgery - just start slowly! For me, it's been the big difference that makes me know this is it........I'll from now on be a healthy slim person.

I am self pay (not easy for my family to do). I have been turned down for private insurance because of my weight, with zero-health problems. DH is not offered insurance at his work. I have been "at home" since late 2004 and FINNALLY got pregnant and carried full term.... 10-19-05. That's the day I became Mazie's mommy!! I have chosen to stay home with her since then (and probably til' she turns 2).

My expenses are totalling just about $18,000.00 with a full year of follow up and fills. DH is "so" supportive that he used the word twice, and finally decided to take me to, and from, the hospital on sugery day! (my sister took time off from work to take me/never thought he would take me) DH does not want to be penalized/punished because I want to make changes! I know I'm in this for me.......But, a little help/suuport here......would be great!!! It does hurt my feelings when I get the eyerolls or comments that are...not so nice. As much as I want him to be Mr. Wonderful--sometimes he's just not!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL IN APRIL ---GREAT SURGERY --FAST RECOVERY -- LITTLE PAIN --BEST RESULTS ---AND MUCH HEALTH, TO EVERYONE!!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
