Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

You violets are wonderfully candid about your sex lives! Fortunately I never lost my sex drive during these years that I've been gaining weight. Part of the reason that I had "reverse anorexia" like KITY said was because of the fact that my weight never bothered my boyfriend so then it never bothered me. I would look in the mirror and not see the fat. It wasn't until I would take a picture and then look at my size compared to others that I would be shocked at how big I had gotten!

:help: Ok Violets: I need help. I have 0 restriction and am eating too much. I feel fat fat fat. I actually had m&ms today (did you know they make 'em in dark choc.). Feeling like the old me has reared her FAT UGLY HEAD. I need a fill, because as of now...it is as if I never had the surgery, except for 5 scars on my tummy, one of which is just now healing from infection. Remind me that this is temporary. I am too freakin busy to find time to exercise. So basically I am just waiting until May 30. Gonna see the doctor tomorrow regarding infection, and gonna ask if I can get a fill sooner.

Ok, just needed to vent. Did I mention I am in a BAD freakin mood? I actually "tattled" on someone at work this morning, and this is the quote I said to my boss, " blah blah blah (boring work stuff), but I swear I wanna slap the shit out of her!" HELLO...this is not how professional women should talk. Anyone else just pissed off? I bet exercise would make me feel better, haha.

I hate runnyy eggs, so i put salsa in mine so i could cook them a little more with a drop of cheese, they tasted so much better and didn't have any issues.

now when I tried to make an omlet with the same stuff that didn't work so well.... Just incase you didn't think of something like that

Ok gals, I tried the scrambled egg last night with just a little bit of cheese to make it more wet. Tasted great, went down great...was up at 4am with diarrhea. Then was nauseated most of the morning until I had some runny cream of wheat. After that I was perfectly fine (with the exception of this pain right under my left ribcage...feels like someone has their fist up there turning it when I try to take a deep breath - I think it's gas pains! LOL)

Today after lunch (I had 1/2 can of cream of chicken Soup, strained), I started belching and hiccuping. I'm really wondering if I'm eating too much...at the same time I want to make sure that I'm getting enough calories and nutrition. I never actually FEEL hungry, so I just eat what I think is appropriate. When I mentioned before that I at 1/2 cup of split pea soup, that was AFTER adding the Water it came to 1/2 cup. So to be honest, it was probably only 1/4th of the can....

Anyway, just wanted to let you know MY experience with the eggs last night! Wasn't pretty! :sick

Pamela - I am so right there with you. I am grazing like I did on my "farewell to food tour" (thanks, Tracy :) ) and I feel fat, too. I also have been in a bad mood for about a week. My patient advocate told me that depression at about 3 weeks was very normal....I guess this is what she was talking about. Which brings me to something I was thinking about earlier...

I think there is some kind of connection between weight loss, hormones, plateaus and grazing. Is anyone with me? When I lost a bunch of weight low-carbing mine (and everyone else's on the forum) periods got all messed up. A year later I hit menopause....at the ripe age of 45!!! Anyway... here I am at a predicted 3 week depression (hormone related?), I'm grazing as if I was PMS'ing, & my weight loss has stalled. Does anyone know any scientific reason that explains this? I know we've got a lot of expert dieters here!

Adorable - it might be a little too early for eggs...too rubbery perhaps. They really filled me up big time when I had more restriction:tired And yes, the hiccups and burps are pretty normal at this point for you. I don't think you're eating too much, but maybe too fast? Or maybe not...but rest assured that you're perfectly normal. Things get a lot more normal in just a couple of weeks.

Kity- Good luck getting an early fill... my doc says no way don't even ask. I am shocked to see some getting a fill after 4 weeks?!?

My fill is set for May 17th. Six week wait is a requirement for any of his patients!! I am basically eating like before (just doing more Protein and trying to make better choices)! I can eat as much as pre-surgery! I feel like I am gaining what I lost pre-op.

Are others feeling like pre-surgery as far as eating goes???????? I feel like a bit a failure already, when I hear some saying, that they can only eat a tiny bit still..

And for the sex thing...... I want, and he wants not!!! I hear more about his bad back, than most husbands hear about the head ache!!! I have always felt like we are the minority!!! Are we???

It's so difficult to keep up with the posts on this thread.. I never seem to catch up enough to post anymore... so I skipped some.. read the last three and finally joined back in.

Congratulations to all with the surgery successes. May you have the willpower that I lack!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for the reassurance. Here I am an RN and if it were anyone else I'd tell them the same thing, however with myself I am SUCH a worry wart! I've been searching the forums for the past 30 minutes about this nagging pain under my left rib cage every time I take a deep breath. I know that it could be a blood clot, however more than likely it's just trapped gas so I'm going to wait it out LOL...God I feel pathetic sometimes! :help:

I need to tell on myself. I had a bad food day. I made poor choices I ate two chocolate bars! I feel horrible and fat and doomed to stay fat! I will try to do better tomorrow but I am afraid to fall into old patterns. Wish me luck!

I was banded April 11 and getting my first fill tomorrow. I am VERY restricted and can only eat 1/4 cup of solids at a time. I am wondering if the doctor will actually go though with it because I have lost about 20 pounds since surgery. I'll let you know how the procedure goes tomorrow. I love this forum!:)

WOW... that seems really EARLY to get filled. I still have a week of liquids to go yet!! Are you thinking you still want the fill since you're not eating that much at a sitting????

Ok, so who's the first Shrink'n Violet who will get a fill?? I know mine isn't until the first week of June, but I'm doing great with what I have. :)

Hey Judy,

I am in the process of catching up on the posts for today, so someone may have already answered to this...I'll see as I keep reading. My hubby and I are going back to Dr. Rumbaut in Mexico May 24-25 for our first fills. It's just before our anniversary weekend, so we're making it into a date! 13 years!!!

God provided me with the best hubby in the world! So glad to be going through this expereince WITH him!

I go to the Doctor tomorrow (Thursday) to see if I can get to the bottom of this fibroid cyst thing...I'll post if I find out anything!

Sounds silly...but jiggle your belly lightly for about five minutes...I did that the first week or so andytime I got any gas pains...It really seemed to break them up! Hubby said it worked for him as well!

Chin up!!!:)

I am actually pretty nervous about it. The nurse said not to count calories and just focus on the amount of food, but I am counting also and stay at about 600-700 calories a day (which just doesn't seem like much at all). Of course, I have to eat all day to get in the 600 calories, however it is healthy food. Junk has not passed my lips since pre-op (WAA WAA WAA WAA). I'm still afraid to try certain foods (pasta didn't do well and I even chewed 20 times for each eraser size bite.) My doctor said the 1st month was the harded and I hope that his timing is right.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
