Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Morning gals

I am not even going to shower this am, i'm getting dressed and hitting the gym before I do anything else. My stomach is still a mess but much better, I am not taking any more antibiotics.

Michelle - it is a head game. Here is what I do. Once a month I do 2 shakes a day and 1 salad with 3oz meat and cheese. I don't normally do it for more than 4-5 days, it is a jumpstart but I honestly don't think it is good to do long term. I am actually going to do it this week, starting today... I think for me it helps me get back to reality and focus on eating healthy after to keep off and maintain what I've lost, and I need that right now, I'm out of control from being sick too. Not really eating much the last few days has really screwed me up.

I am so ready for my 2nd fill. I have 1cc in my band and I need a tiny bit more. I can't wait until the 16th for my reality check (fill) so I can get back on track. I also can't wait to start working days (PRAY FOR THAT) so I can be home cooking and not cooking at the pizza shop. I had my first pc of pizza that I could eat the other day, I wish it got stuck!!!!! I have to cut it so very tiny, like for a toddler but I can eat it.

Well, off to they gym before I don't want to go.

Kat - I am soooo sorry about your accident! I hate hunting on so many levels, and this is just another added to the list. I hope you're all better now.

Kat & TracyinKS - I know that ya'll are all over this board like I am, have ya'll noticed that losingjusme has 'disappeared'?? I"m going to poke a little deeper and see if she's at least logged in. I've sent her 2 PMs and she hasn't responded. I HATE that about message boards....it makes me worry so.

I'm bouncing between 185-186. Choices are simple. Eat less, exercise more and LOSE....or get sloppy with the calories, don't exercise and bounce around with the same numbers. :tired Hmmm. It's not rocket science! I essentially have not lost crap since I quit smoking and I'm eating too much trying to pacify my cravings. I'm going to try to substitute exercise to feed those addictions, but it's easier said than done. So frustrating.

I start my orientation for Walden today! That will be cool, some serious extra cash there.
Pamela - What are you talking about? Did you go out and get another job????

Speaking of eating food v. pro powders & such... I feel like I may be slipping into a bad habit & I'd like your advice... I think I'm starting to eat too little! I have a pro shake for b'fast; something for lunch, like a salad w/3 oz of some kind of meat (chix usually), 1 oz of low-fat cheese, maybe 1/4 of an avacado or a t of sunflower seeds & little bit of salad dressing; then for dinner usually a little bit of whatever I make the family (protein & veggie, just not the starches)... BUT... lately, because I've wanted to get this weight MOVING OFF... instead of eating dinner, I've been having another pro shake. And so now I feel like I"m eating too "much" if I eat the 2 meals/day. So I'm wondering if I'm trading one food head game (eating too much) w/another (eating too little). Thoughts?

Michelle - are you tracking your food on fitday or dailyplate? fitday is good 'cause it gives you a nutrition breakdown for the whole day (dailyplate you have to pay extra for that i think). Eating 'too much' or 'too little' is such a relative thing and is best measured by tracking your calories and then comparing that to how you are losing. If I don't track I tend to eat too much. If I track and keep my calories below 1200, I'll lose. Guess whether or not I'm tracking now!? LOL When I did track religiously I found that I almost always got 60-70 grams of Protein without even trying so I don't worry about my proteiin intake too much.

30 years of eating a high protein diet to control my blood sugar has trained me well enough! I'm always preaching "PROTEIN!" to my kids...they are sick of the question, "What kind of protein did you have for lunch today?" I've taught them all I know about nutrition since they were 6 years old. They may or may not make the best choices (neither do I!) but I feel better knowing that the knowledge is in their mushy little brains and when they're old enough to really care about what they're putting in their bodies...they'll be educated.

Morning Violets~

Man, that damn scale won't move. But I am still happy and hopeful. I've been doing my class (lovelovelove it) and eating well. But, I feel fearless...yes fearless @ 254! Tomorrow is 6 months, and it is -26 loss for now...I'll take it.

Terry~ I was hired for Walden in April to teach teachers getting their Master's degree in Education. It just takes forever for all the crapola (security clearences, etc). So today I will start the New Faculty Orientation. This is a great job...I am excited for it. That is why I quit the other job, didn't want/need 3 jobs. This is online teaching, for an excellent paycheck! So I can keep checking in on my violets!

Judy~ I had a dream I went to your house. Your hubby and you and I sat and had some Crystal Light, and talked bandster stuff! He told me not to sell my house in this market, (weird, I am not really thinking about selling either). Anyway, that is a weird dream. I dreamt that I went to Kat's house too a few months ago. Anyone wanna come over to my house?

Have a great day violets!! Kat hope your eye is ok.

Good Morning, Violets..

I slept in today til 9. Still trying to get this cold to leave my body. It's been hanging on for a week now. but at least it hasn't affected my voice. But now DH has it and you KNOW how men are when they get sick. sheeeeeeeesh!!

Terry...losingjusme hasn't logged on since the 14th of Sept. I followed her weight loss and was amazed at how well she was doing. Hope she's ok. And dailyplate shows the breakdown for nutrition too without having to pay for it. I tried fitday, but found dailyplate to be more user friendly for me.

Hope you all have visited the before and after pic site. It is just amazing to see the transformations of everyone. The guys are looking hot too.. ooops.. did I just say that??

Pamela.. dang, if you had told me you were going to come over I would have cleaned the house a bit more. And never trust a minister if he tells you not to sell your house. Real estate is not his field, for sure!!!

Kat.. hope your eye is better today.

I went to the gym last night and did 30 minutes on the stationary bike. I sure do love that. Especially when there is a young chickie next to me on another bike and I keep sneaking a peek to see if I'm pedaling faster than she is.. I was!! Today I'll hit Curves with DD and then go out for Soup for lunch. I've had my cottage cheese and blueberries for Breakfast. Frozen blueberries sure don't taste as good as the fresh ones, but they are half the price now so I don't have much choice.

Everyone have a great day. Patience, trust and WWJD!!

Pam - Can I come stay with you and can I sleep in your closet?

Kat - I'm so glad you're ok! That would have freaked me out and it's a good thing you kept control of your truck!

TracyK - How's the house search going? Have you found anything you like yet?

Laura - I know exactly what you're talking about with the computer game. I sometimes sit for two little girls, one is 14 and one is 12 and they spend their allowance money on these virtual lives! I couldn't believe it when they were first explaining it to me! Obviously there is many many people out there doing the same. That sounds like a great hobby and it's great that you're able to make money off it!

Jenn - glad you're feeling better!

So, I've hit such a plateu. I'm completely stalled. It frustrates me because I work like a dog, fall into bed exhausted every night. but in the morning I weigh myself and I'm up and down the same two pounds every day. Been like that for about three weeks now. Granted i'm not doing cardio or nothing like that but still! Last night I had to touch up the entire house because when the guys that installed my tile floor, they would brace themselves on the newly painted walls to get up off of their knees. So last night I had to go around the whole house and repaint all the walls right around the hip level and down. My arms were killing me, I was sweating like crazy. Sunday we loaded up a huge moving truck with all the stuff that's left from our old house, brought it to the new house and unloaded everything. Then we had to load up about 500 sq feet of carpet that had been soaked by the rain because when we pulled it we left it out in the back yard and it rained so it got soaking wet. Along with the pad that goes underneath! And also about 500 sq ft of linoleum that we pulled from the kitchen and bathrooms. Anyways, we loaded that up onto the moving truck and we went and found a dumpster to unload it into. Seriously, almost every day is like this since we moved. We've been moving, cleaning, pulling, painting. trimming. This house was a wreck when we got it. It's got great bones but the interior was yuck. And i'm sorry for the rant but I'm getting so frustrated. I was crying about it this morning when I got on the scale. Oh and I guess it doesn't help that we've been eating fast food almost every night. I just can't stop whatever project I'm doing to fix dinner so Juan usually brings something home. Not overly bad stuff because he can't stand burgers and fries but it's not home cooking. Roasted chicken from the grocery deli, subway, salads from jack in the box, chinese food... AUGH. I can't wait until I get back to normal. Hopefully just one more week and I'll be done with the house that way I can get back to my routine, because not only is it affecting my dinner eating it also affects my lunch eating. I usually make lunch at home and bring it to the office. Well I haven't been doing that so I end up grabbing something quick here at the places around the office... Oh, and I don't eat breakfast. I don't get hungry until around 12:30. I have only myself to blame.

I've promised myself 5 days a week of gym as soon as i get my house in order.

Thanks for listening ya'll. I feel better now.

Hi ladies - well i blew off the gym, late start and was going to come home and mow the lawn, which really needs it and would have been good exercise for the day, lawn mower is dead and I just paid $120 to have it fixed, pisses me off because I was going to get a new one for abou $175 and they all said, no don't do it, get it fixed, it is only a few years old, you don't have the money, well now I wasted $120 of that money to have used it 2 times... ok 2 1/2 because it just died in the middle of it the last time I used it. and i STILL need a new one.

I'm going to shower, my aunt is in the hospital and her lungs are filling up with Fluid, she had heart surgery a year ago but they say it is failing and that is why her lungs are filling up. Kind of scary, gram had heart issues too and so did her other sister. She is my favorite, so I need to find time to go see her with all my running. HOLD IT TOGETHER.... I'm going to have to beat into my head going in there. I love her to pieces as my ds would say. Her husband passed a year ago Sept 23 he was my favorite too.

G'mornin'!!

My eye is good thanks, most of the redness is gone. I still have the poke holes in my breasts!!! I thought it just got one, but the glass poked from either side of my cleavage, and I was wearing a henley style shirt, nothing sexy for wood gathering!!! But it went in, and literally stuck me from either side. I will be going to Durango tomorrow probably, to the S.O., not today.

Today I have some of my appointments. I have my mammogram at 1 and my thyroid ultrasound at 2. What fun I have lined up!!!! Will be nice to get the results of the thyroid ultrasound, it has worried me. I know I am at risk for recurrance....so anything out of the ordinary, makes me a little leary. Wish me luck.

I have responded on several threads with losingjusme, but had not really clicked on her disappearance yet, maybe she went on vacation? Several usuals have just went away. Carlene, Leathag, TOM.....just gone!

But on that note, the girl on my other thread that just disappeared so long ago, with no warning, we worried about her son in Iraq. She prompted me to exchange more info with those I care about. She showed back up yesterday!!!! I was so surprised, and happy!!! She said she would fill us all in as to what went on, she was just stopping in to let us know she was ok. What a relief!

I hope you find what happened to losingjusme, she has been a very big part of LBT. Friendly, supportive, not one who has a holier than thou attitude....I will miss her! Let me know if you hear anything!

Kinsey is in a whiny mood this morning. She is laying down, I am ignoring her, so she will relax, and hopefully finish her nights sleep!!!! She wanted cupcakes for breakfast.... poor thing, she got part of a ham & cheese omelet instead!!! Maybe with her tummy full she can drop off, and wake up her usual happy self!

But she is not settling down, so guess it is time for Granny rocking!!!

BBL

Haydee,

we posted at the same time, I too am frustrated but you are so right, I find that my busy life makes it almost hard to cook and do the things we want to do. Hang tight, you are maintaining so that means you are not gaining and you are still 50lbs less than you were.

You guys remember how mental I was in the beginning about the scale and being nuts, I've come a long way. LOL

hang strong.

...

I had only gotten about 5 miles out of town, and was on the phone (blue toothed) with Rick when this loud crack happened, and I had something in my eye---BAD! Something was in my eye, and it would NOT open, and the other eye wanted to shut, and I am driving 65 mph! I kid you not, I was squinting enough I saw I could not pull over, there was a guardrail---we are in the mountains of Colorado! Finally I was able to pull over, by that time both eyes are pouring tears, my nose is running in sympathy I guess, I cannot see, I do not have a clue what is wrong with me---I was just scared!

In every vehicle we own we store extra napkins in the door pocket, so I reached down to get some, and there is glass all over in them! I am finally able to somewhat open my eye...my phone is ringing, I would not respond to Rick all of a sudden, and he could hear me freaking out, so he hung up to call Gary---then called me back. I am finally able to see, my windshield is shattered! There is glass all over me, all over the truck! Gary pulls up, and is out of his truck, and over to mine, opens the door and glass falls, he is picking it off of me. The one that had got in my eye apparantly washed out with all the tears, just a red spot to remember it by. I also cut my right breast where glass went down my shirt.

The windshield is shattered in an area just to the left of the drivers face area....in an area not too big. It is still intact in the rest of the truck. I finally settle down, got Rick settled down, and was ok to drive it slowly home. Then he meets me here, and he thinks it was a bullet! All the guys do, there is a hole through the dashmat and into the dash! So now I have to take it to Durango tomorrow, and have the Colorado Sherrifs Office look at it, and make a report. It is hunting season, so they believe that is what it was!!!

Inches......mere inches, and fractions of seconds...and it would have come through the side glass, and into ME! Scared me all over again!

Kat

I am so glad you're okay!!!!!!!

Blah day for me so far. We have a policy.. we won't print racist, satanic, pornographic, overly-gorey stuff. One of my customers has been working with us for a month on a project that is.. disgusting.. mutilated body with organs all over the place.

SOME HOW no one caught it until today. So *I* had to say, yeah we've worked on it for a month but this isn't what we do.. but after a meeting they decided we'll do it this one time since we already did so much of it already.. but gah, I hate when things like this happen. Makes me feel like an idiot.

Had granola bites (mmmmmmm) for b'fast. Drinking lots of Water, surprisingly I'm not too hungry today. I brought some cheese crumbles & 2 deli slices of ham (this may end up being a BIG mistake) for lunch today.

I bought some bread last night, to my surprise had 70c per 2 slices. And lots of Fiber in it. My DH eats his healthy whole grain wheat or something, it's nasty IMO and it is 110c PER SLICE. So 2 slices @ 70c was exciting. Then after the fact, I think.. if I can't get down chicken how the hell am I going to eat a SANDWHICH. I guess I'll make toast sometime. 35c per 1 slice of toast.

I'm making my tried and true (and lazy) dinner tonight. Keilbasa with saurkraut. Cut up the keilbasa, throw it in a pot with the saurkraut and let it cook for an hour.

Laura, you NEVER cease to amaze me....picky girl you are, and you love Saurkraut! Goofball!!!

Tracy---I use ground turkey a lot in mexican food, the seasonings, and no one has ever noticed a difference!!! Something like Tacos, everyone likes, and you can probably eat without issue...or just eat the filling without the shell....refried Beans go down well, and work with them. Mexican is always my "go to" meal....like Laura with her saurkraut!!!

Well gotta get the girl ready to go to my MOms, that is where she is staying while I go get the girls smushed, and the thyroid scanned!!!!

I would think you could make any ground beef recipe. Make meatloaf?

I love my granny's meatloaf! (It's on the lipton onion Soup box). Mix the beef/or turkey? with the lipton soup mix, 1c bread crumbs, 1 egg, 1/4c ketchup, and 1/4c Water. Bake at 350 for an hour! (I dump the grease out halfway through, and then again at the end).

Kat- I loooove saurkraut. I love norwegian/german food. It is my FAVORITE. I could eat weinerschnitzel or weiners and saurkraut or red cabbage saurkraut everyday for the rest of my life and be a happy woman.. and fat of course!

But I don't like mexican

Good luck at the docs!!

Tracy - anything you would do with beef you can do with turkey. I just made a pot of turkey/black bean chili the other day. I make turkey burgers, (I usually season - sometimes mix in onions, sprinkle with flavor stuff, cheese hotsauce...) turkey taco's for the kids Taco seasoned and make a salad with it. You name it. I found some I l like and never get beef anymore.

I have had 2 Protein Shakes today - so I actually lost a lb this am. I don't know how after the 2 dishes of ice cream and the large bowl of chili and 1/4 bag of sunchips.... go figure. I do need to get rid of the bloat = so i'll be good for a few days because I don't feel like I've lost.

go figure

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
