Does anyone else get pain around their sternum area after eating??? I am 6 weeks post op and certain foods make me double over in pain at the sternum area and I feel like my chest is being crushed !!!! Anyone else deal with this same type of pain ???? Seems I can really only tolerate liquids or cream Soup without getting the pain .

You may have gallstones. I had a really bad attack right under my boobs across my chest 2 months post op. I called my surgeon, they told me to get a ultrasound which I did and had gallstones... so 10 wks RNY post op I went back in for gallbladder removal :( Not fun !!! I would talk to your surgeon it may just be something that does not agree with you, gas, gallstones etc. Don't suffer... get it checked out.

Surgeon said my gallbladder is in good shape . He even put me on gallbladder meds for 3 months to prevent the development of gallstones .. I am suspicious it is either something else or maybe what it is I am eating . I don't know all I know is that it takes my breath away it hurts soooo bad.

I have the same sensation and I am almost 4 wks post op. There is swelling that occurs in your pouch and all of your new connections. The swelling can impede the easy passage of even liquids. It should get better with time. I noticed it a lot more in the first few weeks but it is now to a point where I don't feel it as often anymore and also notice that I can drink a lot more (3-4 gulps of liquid) and not have any problems. It should get better. If not please let your doctor know...... so far some of my initial worries were all within the norm. Congrats on your new life!

OK well that is good new that the ol' gall bladder is OK. I know the pain is really bad. I still have that pain and I have no gall bladder, my regular doctor thinks that I need to have a CT scan to find out what is giving me pain. I know the first like 4-5 months after my RNY surgery if I did not chew my food I would get really bad pains, make sure you are chewing your food really, really well.

That could be what happened...... I may have not chewed well enough and a piece got stuck... Not sure but pain was intense .

How far out from surgery are you? That would help us help you more.

Papaya enzymes help with digestion if something gets stuck or if you took too big of a bite. It helps pretty quickly for me. I would definitely recommend you talk to your surgeon about it though.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
