I would say don't even start drinking it because it really isn't good for you. Regular pop has the sugar and carbonation and diet has the carbonation. My Dr kind of laughed when I asked if carbonation stretched your pouch bc he said no it won't. All I googled carbonation and gastric bypass and it says carbonation won't stretch your pouch. It can cause gas and a fullness like often burping. But other then that I drink it occasionally. Not everyday but maybe every other. Some say not to even get back in the bad habits.

I will be honest. I did when I turn like 4 months post up then I decided it wasn't worth it & my fat ass got fat by drinking soda so I gave it up cold turkey.

I haven't had a drop of soda since 2 week pre-op. Don't want to get into those bad habits that put the wright on in the first place. Plus it's not good for the pouch.

If you've gone this far without it, why start back? Your body can start craving sugar again even though you are drinking diet. Some studies suggest body/brain doesn't discern between some artificial sweeteners vs sugar. Slippery slope imo.

I also was a soda pop drinker, and while I have tried a few sips since having surgery the agony that I experience was enough to keep me from even wanting it (most days lol) the carbonation does a number on your stomach lining and even the sugar free crap is filled to the brim with junk couter-productive to a healthy tummy...

My surgeon says soda is a BIG NO-NO. I "was" a diet pepsi addict....I have had a couple sips of soda but nothing much more than that. Its really not good for you after RNY, please find something else.

I gave up diet pepsi eight years ago when I had the band. And I was the type that when I got a can I got two cause that is how fast I would drink them. Our home could have been out of a lot of things but not out of Diet Pepsi. I am still amazed to this day that I was able to just stop drinking it. But I did. I do believe that it would cause some discomfort if you drank it and that may be enough for you to want to avoid it.

sometimes if i have a CRAZY bad craving i will mix 1/2 and 1/2 Water & perrier water and a few drop of mia, isually two or three sips is enough to quell the craving and keep from upsetting my tummy too bad...

Just a thought...my husband and I were official Coke addicts (myself was Diet Coke) and approx 10 months ago, we made the decision that it had to go. I was breaking out like a 15 year old, and he had heartburn everyday all day. It was hard, but we went cold turkey. He continued to have it whenever we would go out to dinner, or parties, but nothing like we used to. So the last week before my surgery, I figured "Hey, I will probably never have it again, why resist?" and had some. Let's just say, it tasted like hell! It was definitely not what I expected. I really thought it would be my last great indulgence, when it really just sucked. However, it was enough to prove that tastebuds change. I really have no desire for it (5 weeks out). Much like the other folks have said, just accept your new normal and leave the pop/soda behind. Additional note, my face has cleared up, and my husbands heartburn is now able to be controlled with his medication, and he's not in agony all day.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
