Periods And Birth Control-Tmi

Recommended Posts

So...i had my period right b4 surgery and of course it startes again the day after. Im 4 weeks post op and its starting again and its like a weird black smear. Anyone else get this?

As far as birth control Im on the pill but read online its less effective because my stomach cant absorb the hormones. Im nervous but dont want to switch off. I was on the shot for years and gained over 100 lbs. My insurance doesnt cover an IUD. And before anyone says it...i hate condoms. Engaged and dont use them. Has anyone had issues with the pill?

I decided to just do the plunge and get a tubal. Trying to set it up so that they can do it while I am under with this surgery on Dec 4th. I will find out on Friday if that is even an option.

I just did the essure sterilization and novasure ablation. My gyn told me pills would not be as effect. He gave me a choice of sterilization, depo, iud and the one that goes in your arm.

What is essure sterilization and novasure ablation?

I'm going to attach the links to better explain the procedures. Now the essure is a semi new (tubal litigation) way to block up your tubes with coils that are supposed to scar your tubes. It takes up to 3 months to be effective. Novasure is typically used to stop heavy menstrual cycles or lighten them. My gyn suggested it since I don't like periods and loved when I had the iud.

I am with you... My period comes every 2 weeks because pill isnt as effective! i just tried Nuvaring and it didn't work. I gained a lot of weight on depo shot. I also heard people weight loss stopping when they got IUD. Essure is only for people who are not planning on having kids. I'm completely stuck and lost :(

You could always do the nuva- ring. It is placed inside your vagina once a month. You or your partner can not tell it is there. The absorption is through your tissues.

I plan on having kids also. My gun and decided to do implanon. Its an implant in your arm but it is just progesterone unlike the more popular implant Norplant which is estrogen and progesterone. Its been shown to be very effective and can work up to 3 years but can also be removed at any time and you can get pregnant right away. Can't get it til next month cuz I'm only 2 weeks out. Check it out it seemed like the best option for less hormones effective absorption after surgery and never having a kid before.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
