If you are on regular food, be creative in what you eat but get your Protein in first. If you want to mix fruit into you shake I don't see a problem with that. There are many times I use my Protein Shake as a meal because they fill me up so much. Rule of thumb, watch the fats and sugars, if something is low in fat ans surgar and high in protein = go for it.

I need something different today! Can I mix tuna w a little mayo? What about toast? I am having a hard time w my Protein and I need something different! What about shakes in the morning? Can I add fruit?

yeah adding some fruit to those shakes can really help change it up just try to be careful with fruits that naturally have higher contents of sugar like

• Plums• Oranges• Kiwifruit• Pears• Pineapple• Tangerines• Cherries• Grapefruit• Pomegranates• Mangoes• Figs• Banana• Dates• Raisins• Dried Apricots• Prunes

Just to name a few but don’t get me wrong if you can eat even just a little enjoy it! The last thing I would ever wish on anyone is to suffer from dumping but I find I can still enjoy a nibble of a few things that do contain some sugar :)

Have you tried any other methods of Protein besides shakes like.....hmmm.....like Protein Shots and the wafers (both I found at Wal-Mart) or they have these really cool 1oz protein "candy" Jello shots I first came across these at my surgeons office I just got my first shipment yesterday and heck for 1oz of jello I get 15gm of protein and 100cal they are awesome....if I can think of anything else i'll throw it up here :)

Be careful of the shots.. Most contain the wrong kind of protein for the pouch crowd

Thanks for the suggestions! I have been taking all suggestions into consideration! Haven't added fruit to my shake yet as I am too scared to have dumping.. Had that once and oh my I totally don't want to back there!

I have my first outting this week with friends.. I am on soft foods..kinda nervous as to how to handle this, any suggestions?

Hey jnygrl excited for you and your first outing! The best advice I came across in all my reading with our surgery was to let your server know to bring you a to go box as soon as you get your meal and you can box up all but what you know will fit into your pouch that way you don’t feel overwhelmed by the mountain of food that they will serve. Mentally we know we can’t only eat but so much but it’s hard to keep from feeling guilty when it just staring at you on the plate so I always end up with two and three meals if not more lol. Hope you have a great time! Let us know how it goes…. J

I add fruit to my Protein Shake every morning that I make one with my unflavored Protein Powder. I add 1/2 a small banana and 2 -3 frozen strawberries or mixed berries to 4 oz of silk and 1 scoop powder. I eat that every day I go to work, it is my Breakfast and works as a meal. I tried it with flavored Protein and did not like it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
