Banded Bikers II

Recommended Posts

What in the world has happened to our thread? Everybody out riding or suffering from the winter blues? Cabin fever, maybe? I'be been able to get out and ride around town a couple of times in the last week, but now we have a front and more bad weather moving in. Flash Flood watches and all that good stuff. Gotta love spring time in Central Texas. Everybody needs to sound off and check in...

Hey All,

Randy if your post wouldnt of gone to my email, I dont know when I would of had time to check in. Took the winter off but now it's time to get back to work and make a real living. Just happen to be in the office today hiring people, aaaaaand playing on the computer a little!

I know what your talkin about with the weather, what you guys had down south came up our way (S.E.Kansas). Nothing but rain today and tomorrow and most everything I need to do is outside! Very little riding going on up here mainly cuz I have found out that I'm gettin OLD and dont like the cold & damp like I use to! 60 degree's plus for me these day's, that's like saying you like camping, as long as it's at the Holiday Inn . . . . . . . Notice how hard & damp the ground is the older ya get???

Go see an Orthapedic Sergion 3-24 to see when they are going to slice & dice my shoulder. Rotator cuff is keeping me awake at night but not sure I want to miss out on a full riding season. Talked to several who have had the surgery and they all say you WILL be down awhile. Going to see if we can put it off untill Fall / early winter.

Hope everyone else is doing well, I know we had some new guy's over in the Men's Room that got sliced & diced. Have had several people notice a change in myself (-45 lbs) good to know it shows, I dont really see it yet. Had to miss my first fill Mar. 12 due to another Dr. app. that couldnt be changed. All is well though, so I go in 3-26 and get that first fill. I know I need it cuz I could (but dont) eat a horse!

Happy riding all, Steve

Hi, well, I'm in the wait mode. I saw my doc last week, waiting for ins approval. I ride a '07 Kawasaki Vulcan EN500. Only been riding a year, still learning. Doc says it could be 4-5 weeks before I get banded. I CAN'T WAIT!!! Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. Ride safe, D'

Randy, I'm still here! Just been busy doing stuff and riding a lot. Been brainstorming all sorts of mods for my bike. I need to get a job if I'm going to be spending all this money! Sorry to hear you guys have been having bad weather. Hopefully it will clear out soon! Riding season is here!

Okay, checking in as instructed...lol Here!

Well Randy, I've been riding a lot since we've had the weather for it. With the exception of the past two days but we need the rain so it's a good thing. We went to Stone Henge this past Sunday and didn't even have to cross the ocean. There's a replica of it in Hunt Tx...who knew? lol That entire area is a gorgeous ride and I highly recommend it if you come this way.

Harley Girl...congrats on your band!

Welcome D'...I've only been riding two years myself and I've put about 18,000 miles on my Sportster in that timeframe so I am LOVIN it!!

Jax, how was the trip down south? Did you get to do the MDA ride? Dying to hear some stories! Would love to come your way next year for Daytona.

Making a road trip next Wednesday to College Station. Hopefully the weather will be clear again by then. If I don't check in before I'll definitely check in when I get back.

Peace to all and ride safe!

Whosyadaddy, make it a good one. I actually found mine on Ebay, drove up and checked it out and rode it home.

Carol, I know exactly where Stone Henge is. We stopped in Hunt on one of our rides. The river valley is a fantastic ride with all those low Water crossings. Only problem was, at the time, it was raining cats and dogs. But I LOVE riding the Hill Country on the bike.

Harley Girl, welcome and congratulations! Come back often and regale us with the stories of your rides. But you'll be hard pressed to top Wonder Woman....hehehe

Jax, you know what a job is, don't you? That is where we all go between rides....dang it!!! And I still don't know why they won't just send my paycheck to the house and let me stay on the bike??? Go figure!

Hey, all, I'm almost a Bandster, just waiting on the ins. approval, which the dr.'s insurance specialist said should come through quickly... I ride a HD Heritage softail, just wondering, after surgery, when were you guys up to road trips? Believe I will be in during April, we're planning a 2 wk road trip end of June --- do you think it will be "do-able"???

Also, how do you guys handle long trips? I assume sttop frequently to drink, eat my Protein and stuff like I would at home, take Water on the bike, etc... but, are there any issues you've encountered on the road that I should watch out for?

Sandy

Sandy, welcome to LBT! Here's hoping your insurance person knows what they are talking about. I believe we have all had our issues with insurance companies.

As for the long rides, Carol (RidinMyHDDream) rode her 1200 Sporty up to Sturgis, from San Antonio, TX just a few short weeks after her banding. She is a "Wonder Woman"... I would venture to say that it depends on how YOU feel. And that is probably what the doctor is going to tell you, too. Unless, of course, he is one of those jerks that refer to bike riders as donors and ain't never even been on one in his (or her) fargin' life... oh wait.... I'm getting up on my soap box. *grin* BTW, where do you hail from? I'm in Texas *smile*

lol...yes, Wonder Woman's what they call me after my trip to Sturgis on the Sportster but primarily because I took off and finished the trip by myself. Now, Randy always gives me more credit than I deserve. I actually had my band last January and it wasn't until August that I made that trip however there were rides before that.

Sandy, if you read through the posts the most common thing you'll see is ask your doctor. Randy's right, it's an individual thing. But that's plenty of time in between. Definately stay hydrated. Concentrate on getting protiens in first whenever you stop for a meal. It's really not all that bad. You can always find something even at the rallys. I hope you hear good news soon! Good luck and we hope to hear how you're doing.

I spent my Easter in the church of Harley today. We rode up around Fredericksburg and put on a couple hundred miles. Little windy but overall a great day!

I hope everyone's doing well. Daddy, good luck on the bike hunt! I hope you find your next dream soon!

:crying:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
