Woohoo Offiially Post Op!

Recommended Posts

I'm day 1 post op & already down 12 lbs. The didn't put a foley.in at all thank God. Having quite a bit of trouble managing pain. I have the hiccups which are agonizing. I am on clear fluids. I was full after 1/2 a Jello cup. It wasn't even a normal size one. I've been up walking, 6 laps so far. I should get to go home tomorrow.

Wow congrats!

Yeah the farting thing is tough, it took me three days. And a BM took a week with the help of milk of mag.

But I agree with the girls. Haha you will be on thin sexy version of Kevin James. Haha

Good luck! & I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Hey! Congrats! I just had mine on Tuesday. I still haven't passed gas or had a BM. I been burping and hiccuping though. Hiccups hurt! But it relieves a lot of the gas stuck in my abdomen. The only pain I really had was the gas.

For those who have had the surgery recently...is the pain tolerable? My sister had her surgery yesterday afternoon and says the pain is horrible and she can't tolerate morphine because she throws up...shes so scared she has a leak because she threwup hrs after surgery but I hope not. She said pain is so bad! I guess it's different for everyone. She had a hernia repaired too. She also had vertical sleeve, not bypass. Hmmmm.

Pain itself can cause vomiting but there are alternatives to morphine. A more likely cause of the vomiting would be the anasthesia. If they haven't done it already, they almost certainly will be doing what is commonly called a "leak test" which should alleviate her fears regarding a leak. The test is normally done the day following surgery. Give her our best and assure her that the pain passes relatively quickly and she's gonna love the new her!!

Thank you so so much! She's been given an alternative to the morphine called tramadol and shes 100x better and up and walking. She also just finished her swallow test and all is ok! Thank you!! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
