Hello, I am 6 weeks post surgery and apparently I have hit a plateau. I am down 42 pounds since surgery. I am working out everyday with different things, treadmill, ab Lounger, Zumba, biggest loser workout, wii fit, ect. The one thing I can do say is that my Protein is a little low. I'm having trouble getting a full shake down. Tried many...trying a new one tomorrow. I just can't stomach a whole one. I can't do the unflavored because I can taste it. Any ideas on why I hit this plateau and how can I move forward...5 more pounds and my husband is getting me a big surprise. Thanks!

To get out of my plateau I had to stop exercising for a month and then started back up with a vengeance!! I've dropped from 188 to 171 in just 3 days!

Wow, stop for a whole month! Ok. I am willing to try anything. I don't understand why my body is doing this.

Got on the scale again this morning and it says 251. Why can't I hit 250? I feel like I have been eating good, doing my exercises. This is so frustrating to me and I can't figure out why. I have lost 46pounds in 6 weeks. I have never been able to do that on my own, but I just can't shake this feeling of failure! I feel like the scale should be moving faster and its not. Has anyone else felt this way?

Yes, I am only 3 weeks post-op and am stuck as well. My surgeon refers to hybernation syndrome in our education book. I think I am there whichis very discouraging given I eat 500-700 cals a day. Keep to it and it will break they assure me. Kudos to you on all the exercise. It is all I can do to walk 30-45 minutes. You are a rock star!!!! ;)

Thanks so much newlife2012. I took my daughter to volunteer today and I had 3 people that said I look a lot different than I did a week ago, so apparently it is working...the scales are not showing it is though. Just to let you know at 3 weeks all I was doing was walking 30-45mins too, that is how fast things change. I can even do 40-50 sit ups now. I am actually 6.5weeks out now. You can do it. It's almost as if my energy just switched overnight.

Wondering if the scale isn't moving because you are gaining the muscle back that was lost?? Thanks for the encouragement. New to this site and trying to gain motivation from successful individuals like you :-)

Honestly, I am not sure. Everytime I have dieted (before the surgery) this exact same thing would happen to me. I would eat right/exercise and I would lost 20-25lbs and then stop. I would get frustrated and give up. Everyone would tell me that its because I am gaining muscle, but I never really believed that. I just thought people were trying to be nice and make me feel better. LOL I contacted my dietician. I have not got a response back yet. I think I am just freaking out because this has happened to me soooo many times that I am a little sensitive to this. My husband refuses to let me take my measurements until next friday (the 2 month mark) he said because I am too obsessed with the scale already. :/ God, I love that man. He keeps me gounded (as much as any one person could I guess). You will do this. You can make this happen. Its frustrating sometimes. You hit bumps in the road, but so far not like any other diet I have been on...and I think I tried them all.

As my surgeon says... if you eat right and exercise YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT... your husband is wise and sounds very supportive :-) Keep telling yourself you own that scale and you will take it back. Not moving is also better than moving in the wrong direction coming from the same person that is letting the scale get her down over a 2 pound weight gain and I know it can't be right given what I am eating.

I have had that too. Don't let it get you down. 2 pounds is no big deal. You will lose that. I am almost wondering if your body is going through a starvation thing....where it thinks you are trying to starve yourself so it is storing everything instead of using it. I am not a doctor, but that is the only explanation that I have when you are eating as little as you do (because there is no choice) and then you gain two pounds. In fact I think it was around the same time I did that...and then again last week. It sucks bad, but I don't think its anything you are doing, its just your body adjusting.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
