I can't believe this is happening!

Recommended Posts

I've been a lurker on this site for a few months as I've been going through my pre-op phase. I never joined or shared my story because I think I believed that it somehow wouldn't work out. Well, yesterday I completed the last 2 components of my check list - the Mental Health and Nutrition evaluations. I got a call back from my surgeon today that they both agree that I'm an excellent candidate and that he would like to schedule me for November 1!

I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I've literally never been a healthy weight - I don't even know what my body looks like "healthy". I turn 30 in mid-October and am the blessed wife of an active duty Coastie and loving mama to 2 rambunctious babies - an almost 3 year old and an 18 month old. Prior to becoming a mama, I was a career obsessed nurse. I truly have spent my life in service to others. Now, I know I need to take some time to do this for myself.

So, I'm excited to be here and bring on 11-1-13!

Congratulations! Once you become a mama it is hard to think about doing anything for yourself. I totally understand this way of thinking. However, this will make a huge impact on your children as well. You will be able to run, jump, and skip with them as they grow up. They will be able to wrap their arms around your waist, and be so proud that they can do that. You have to remember that not only are you doing this to feel better about yourself, but also so that you will be around for them, through graduation, college, marriage, and then when they have babies of their own. The sleeve was the best decision of my life, and soon you will come to realize it is the best decision of yours too! Good luck to you! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
