Glad you're here Amy! Can you tell us what the 5 day pouch test involves?

You were sleeved in 2008 - so you kept it all off for 5 years (except this 20 pound regain)? That's pretty amazing.

2 great things about your post :)

you are proudly showing off your 200 weight loss

showing newbies et that they can/will be successful with their weight loss :)

you are also honestly admitting that anyone can gain weight

but you are wisely nipping your weight gain in the bud

newbies et al need to be aware that this is a life time journey

once you achieve goal - you must continue to follow all the rules forever, and ever

or you might/will gain weight back

amy

you know what to do, i'm sure you will lose those nasty 20 lbs, and once again reach goal

then..............

as OP need to realize, they must continue to eat and drink properly for the rest of theif healthier, happier, life :)

good luck

kathy

congrats

Cambridge Dictionary's definition of the verb CREEP: to move slowly, quietly, and carefully, usually in order to avoid being noticed: That's how it is, right? It just sneaks up on you when you are not looking. Life is what happens when you've made other plans. The way to get control back is to just grab it. Grab: to take hold of something suddenly. So, same as you did before, wake up tomorrow morning and take charge of your health again. You are worth the effort. Good Luck.

Wow...u are my hero! Losing 200 lbs and only regaining 20 recently? Wow! I have 26 lbs to goal (the hardest 26 lbs I've ever lost) and I hope to say this 1 day (not 200 lbs but over 110)

Good luck with the 20. Welcome!

Hi Amy,

Welcome! You are probably one of the first to have the surgery of the people who participate in this board. I'm three years behind you (had my surgery in May 2011). I'm so glad you have joined us. I love having other vets to chat with. There is such a steep drop off as the years go by, but there are quite a few of us who are more than two years out here.

I'm interested to hear how you do with the pouch test. I've heard several people say it's too harsh when you are further out. You will find other vets who have dropped their regain here.

I originally had a bounce range of 5 lbs., but found that was too much and encouraged some junky eating on my part, so I cut my bounce range to 2 lbs. over goal. I still weigh and track my food on most days.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I've never done the 5 day pouch test before but had heard from several who said it turned things around for them. First two days are liquids and it has been hard . But I want to be in control again and lose this regain and maybe even 10 more. I'll report each day.

Life is good post sleeve - the best thing I ever did. I'm a cyclist now and my entire life had changed. A local magazine just did a before and after story in me and I'll try to figure out how to share that link.

Can someone tell me which forum I should post my 5 day pouch updates to? I don't have enough posts to be able to use the veteren's forum. Diet and Nutrition maybe? I don't want to clutter up the wrong message board. Thanks! Amy

We're all so curious about someone who has lost and kept off that much weight that I think you could post wherever the heck you wanted and no one would complain :P

LOVE having long-term vets to learn from. Glad you're here to join the rest of the super-helpful ones we have on the forum.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
