went to the LA County fair last night. oh my, all the FOOD...

Recommended Posts

I tried to take pics of most of the food shacks. Thought of making it a Facebook folder entitled "this is why the US is fat".

Hubby and I shared a corndog (the whole reason I went!). Actually I had a few bites from HIS corndog. That thing was $9.75! They had deep fried frog legs, deep fried twinkies, deep fried Snickers bars and Reeses, etc. I think they would deep fry a ball of lard if it appealed to anyone. Oh and the bacon-everything. Bacon doughnuts, mushrooms wrapped in bacon then deep fried, chocoltae dipped bacon...on and on

They actually had a deep fried chicken sandwich with 2 Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts as the bun.

Oh and hubby had never had a funnel cake before. So I had to take his virginity. Took 2 bites and that was enuf. Wished I could eat more when I saw the gyro stand, but alas my tiny tummy proved to be no match for the county fair.

Wow, its amazing what people will eat (especially if its deep fried)

Our fair is this weekend. I am mourning not eating the food. Really it is the grossest but at the same time it is so amazing!! I am only 10 days out so even a bit is out of the question. I am staying home. A little jealous of your outing :)

4 days before surgery and 3 days before my final weigh in I went to a music festival in my town. I could not believe the crap they had, and I was on my pre op diet. Mind you my pre op diet was not as strict as some but I still had to be careful and there was NO screwing that up! I did good, I did eat but I chose a taco salad and held the shell one day and the second day I did a bread less Philly cheese steak. My cousin is trying to save up to open a food truck and I told him the only way he can is if I get to create a HEALTHY option dish for it!

It's amazing how this life change really opens your eyes to what we had been partaking in and enjoying.

Today when I am eating with others I am amazed at how they are able to fit all that in their stomachs and amazed at what I used to eat. I am so thankful for my sleeve today and how it limits any moment of weakness I might have. So far I have been good and I know at this time I have to stay away from country fairs etc. Not because I would eat the food but because of the mental anguish it would probably do to me. I applaud those of you who can handle it but for me a full on yummy (yet gross now)food assault would be pure torture. I think that is growth! :)

All of what you said. But I'm also amazed at how little food it really takes to keep us alive! I can't get over that.

I agree with everything on here. BUT in somewhat of an off comment it's not just in America. European fairs are just as guilty. I believe for myself it wasn't the food availability but my self control that got me here. I could have picked a healthier alternative but I chose not to. I have accepted my responsibilities and my bad choices. I now choose the good. Of course now I have more of a push but mentally I don't want it any more.

First 40 years was given to me. The next 40 I have to fight for! I'm actually 46 it would not have made sense! Lol.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
