Eggs, taking a quick poll

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm rather frustrated with the registered dietitians at my doctors office. Mainly because they give conflicting and contradicting answers. I'm on 4 weeks of puréed food. This is following two weeks of liquids post op. I'm told no eggs. Not in any form, not even puréed. They say it's because eggs are hard on our system so soon after surgery. Has anyone else been told this? Thanks!!

Eggs were the first thing I ate at home and were part of my purée diet.

I'm on pureed and soft foods, and I am eating scrambled eggs and egg salad. Both have worked out fine.

I used to eat eggs rather consistently pre-sleeve, but post, they were difficult for me. Hard boiled, fried ... I can handle them now, 2+ years out, but pretty much have moved past them.

I have heard the same from a few folk on here, so I think why you are getting conflicting information is because it is not the same for everyone. Some folks do fine while others, like me, have difficulty early out. The advice you have been given is just conservative. Try them. If they work for you, then great, but don't be surprised if you have difficulty.

My doctor's office is very conservative however they allow soy chips and other crunchy things from their store which makes NO sense. And while I believe some people have trouble with eggs post op, I do not believe its because universally eggs are hard on our system post op. thanks, everyone, for taking time to answer.

I also had Dr Foote and was amazed at my f/u apt that I couldn't have eggs but they said I could have the crunchy stuff(with protein). I waited till 4wks out and tried some scrambled and did fine. But I find that I'm not loving eggs as a taste thing. They just don't look good right now.

Exactly why I included that in my post! My whole pre op and two week liquid post op came from their products. I'm actually ok with that. I'm just not ok with answers and guidelines that make no sense to me.

Hi how are you doing? Do you go to the support group on Mondays? I'm wondering if we have met in person with our real names...haha

I'm kind of butting heads with the registered dietician at the moment because her answers don't make sense. It's annoying because I feel everything else at GHP is top notch.

I don't want to tell you to not listen to your medical providers but they each have their own ways. I was allowed eggs 3days post op and anything pureed. I had my surgery at Vanderbilt. I had no issues with anything post op as far as good goes.

Yes! I don't want to go against them either I just don't think they have valid reasons for some of their rules. And that doesn't sit well with me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
