My surgery is September the 18th and I'm literally thinking I might die during the procedure I want to cancel but I also wanted this my entire life!

I had this same problem. It is important to try to her a good positive attitude. This of it this way, the risks are no higher than having your appendix out and if you had a bad appendix, you have no choice, you would have to have it removed. Are the risks of your weight higher than the risks of surgery , probably. But you have to do what is right. I just had my surgery on 9/4. You can do this.

My surgery is on Monday (9/9)...I'm also totally terrified. Statistically though, we should be fine. :)

It's good hearing that my BMI is 57 :/ so yeah I really want to get it done I'm just terrified that the dr will tell my family that there was complications and that I didn't make it just wondering if anyone else was feeling the same way!

I'm feeling that fear too, love. A statistic that was helpful to me was remembering that you honestly have a greater chance of dying in the car on the way than you do dying during the operation. I know it's scary. Especially when you read and research everything as much as possible, it makes it so much easier to focus on the complications that might happen, when the reality is that the odds of that happening are SO minuscule. Whereas if you remain obese, your chances of premature death become almost definite. I know it's scary. I totally get it, that thought has kept me up at night! But weigh the odds. The odds are in your favor if you choose to go through with the surgery. The unknown is scary and I'm sure that you feel like me, you just want someone to tell you you'll definitely be okay and there's no way you're going to die. Unfortunately no one can guarantee that, but according to statistics, you will probably be just fine. Express these concerns to your doctor and anesthesiologist. They'll know what to say to make you feel better :) Do what you really believe is best for you!!

i know that it's the best for me, because I'm tired of being tired all the time, my quality of life is worth any of the risks involved. Plus with a BMI in the 80's not doing it is a greater risk.

I had the same fear so I decided to use a little gallows humor and acceptance to calm me down. Oddly, because I went in expecting to die it seemed a lot easier and a made me realize the ridiculous ness of my fears.

I feel the same way as u specially because I'm going to get it done in Mexico, but I know that if everything comes out good I would be a happier person.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
