Question for those who have had a tummy tuck..

Recommended Posts

I'm only 8 weeks out, but I know tummy skin will be a problem. I'm only 23, but had 2 kids only 2 years apart (both csections). After already losing 51lbs, I can already see my tummy getting saggy.

So my questions are

What's recovery like?

Was it covered by insurance?

Wats the pain in comparison to a csection?

Thanks!

I just had a Tummy Tuck on Tuesday. I have only taken pain meds 3 times. I'm very happy so far with my recovery!

I've been told insurance will cover the cost of Excess skin removal (but not a Tummy Tuck, which involves the muscle as well) only if it is causing a rash or irritation in the area. (For example, if excess sking hangs over and rubs against the skin of your abdomen.) It certainly depends on your insurance company's policy, however.

Hi JessicaAnn,

Yes saggy skin was my problem too. I has a lower body lift, breast and butt. I Did Not have Lipo, which I hear is very painful. The LBL areas are numb, so the pain that you experience can be tolerated with medication. I think my C-section pain compared to my LBL pain was about the same or maybe even less.

My surgery was not covered by insurance.

Hi there,

I.kinda did things backwards lol

I had my plastic surgery last year and will have my sleeve in November. I had lots of loose skin after having twins. I guess im considered a light weight at 185lbs. Anyhow, back to my point. I had an circumferential Tummy Tuck (or lower body lift), butt lift/augmentation, and liposuction. Everyone is different, but for me it was very painful!!!! I think the pain came mostly from the Lipo. My Dr pulled me extra tight (which I appreciate now) so I was still walking hunched over well.into week 4. But even with all of that, I dont regret it one bit. My tummy is still flat but im afraid that with the weight loss from the sleeve, it will get flabby again :(

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
