How do you take your medicines after surgery? There are several I MUST take, some you cant crush or split, how do you take them without them getting stuck? I havent had surgery yet so I have some questions and I havent seen this addressed. Thanks

Hi,

I had my meds prescribed in liquid or dispersible form for after my op. There were some that didn't come in this form and had to be changed or stopped.

Hope this helps,

Yvonne

I am newly banded but, just wanted to say that you can still take meds, I am on an Antibotic that is cut in 2 for twice a day instead of once bc it's so big but besides that everything else goes down fine, you have to realize that your band is not filled right after the procedure so although banded, and probably swollen you still have plenty of room for things to go through~ hence why I am STARVING right now!~ O.K sorry that was just my head hunger jumping in. I just think I'm starving :scared:

Good Luck,

Sara

ok, I hope that it doesn't have anything to do with lack of restriction or another problem. But I have been able to take my meds without any difficulty from the 1st day post op. I take 4 med size pills without trouble. I also suffer from Migraine headache disease and will at times take 4 ibuprofen at one time without probs.

I did switch to chewable vitamins and Calcium tabs. Those giant horse tabs (calcium) did give me a golf ball, but chewable has been fine.

I switched all my meds to either ones that could be crushed or to dissove tabs. I crushed them at first :scared: but quickly learned that they are really disgusting that way and I could barely choke them down so I tried swallowing them whole and haven't had a problem.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
