I'm 2.5 months out from surgery as of Monday, and I'm down 38 lbs., which is an average of 3.8 lbs. per week (not bad, I'll take it!!)

I was initially a little surprised that I wasn't losing faster, but now that it's been a few months I realize that if I keep averaging the weight loss, then it really doesn't matter if I stall for a few weeks here and there. It's the long view that counts. My goal is to be 50 lbs. down by my birthday, which is in a little less than a month; hopefully I'll get there, but if not, life will go on. One day at a time :)

Hi all <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I was sleeved 8th July and am 52lbs down. Lost a fair amount of this early on but has slowed down a lot. I'm losing around 2lb a week now.

Same thing ere, I lost 25 pounds in the first 2 weeks and now 15 total min 6 weeks, so just a hair over 2 a week. Still eating low calories and exercising. Seems crazy.

1-2 lbs a week is normal bog losses can't last forever. A loss is a loss. Also the slower you lose less skin later you can tone as you go. Patience.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
