I was sleeved on July 8th. I have lost 28 lbs. My goal is to lose 60. Everytime I get on the scale I am scared that I will gain or stop losing. It is that little voice in my head that knows I have never been successful before in losing all my weight...so why would I now? I'm not depressed...I'm excited about my success so far. I just wish I could get that negative nelly out of ny head that says you can't do this. I know I can!

Our heads want us to eat -- at least PART of our heads... 'tis a battle!

It is because we have conditioned our brains for failure in dieting because that is what we always did! It seems to get a little better the farther out you get but I'm still amazed every time it shows a large loss! All of us are different but I have committed to doing EXACTLY as my surgeon tells me to do (after all I did trust him to cut out 80% of a vital organ) and not push the boundaries like drinking carbonation, eating sweets, caffeine, etc. I have seen too many who are successful for a couple of years then go back up. I want to do everything to keep that from happening because obviously we don't know how best to lose and keep it off or we wouldn't need that surgery! I think a little healthy fear is good for us to keep us on the right track! Before anyone takes offense to the boundary comment, I am strictly talking about me and my journey! I am not putting anyone else down for what they choose to do! We all do what we feel is right for us!

I'm 14 weeks out and am completely obsessed about gaining weight. Every time I have weighed myself I've lost weight, but this does in no way assuage my fears. Additionally, working out has literally become an all consuming experience. I used to work out after work, but the fear of something coming up that might interfere with my workout had me anxious all day. I cured that by moving my workouts to the morning and I'm chilled out the rest of the day. This is certainly a lot different than I used to behave.

"conditioned our brains for failure" as said by ShrinkingMom, unfortunately is a great/true comment :(

you shouldn't fail with your weight loss as long as you follow ALL the sleeve rules

to me, Water rules are the most important

stop drinking 15-30 minutes before you will eat

NEVER, EVER, EVER drink with your meals (people have been shot for less ;) )

do not drink for 45-60 minutes after you eat

drink as much H20 as you can (at least 64 oz)

chew your food thoroughly

eat veryyyy slowly

helps if you put your utensil down after each bite

eat Protein first

measure your food

85% of your tummy is now gone!!!! the sleeve will help you/assist you to be successful

BUT........you must work very very hard too!!!!

work with the sleeve and the sleeve will work with you :)

as far as gaining a couple of lbs here or there, there is always Water gain that should/will come off

measure yourself frequently - if you are not losing weight, its very possible/probable that you have lost inches

"see" how your clothes feel/fit

everyone/most/all of us go through stalls, some stalls can last a few days

but i've seen them last much longer too (as in months  )

don't frown and worry too much - you'll get wrinkles along with some "possible" lose skin!!!

stay focused, positive and excited

i know you can do this

once you reach goal - remember.....your new eating/drinking habits are something you must keep forever and a day

thats the MUST DO plan so you remain at your goal weight!!!!!

and continue to live a healthier, happier, longer life :)

28 lbs gone!!!! :o OMG!!!

keep up the good work

good luck

kathy

congrats

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
