So what happens when they remove it? Also if its similar to bypass, and they can still eat copious amounts of food can you imagine what the dumping would be like??!?!?

I feel like it's more similar to the bypass but without the cutting. I imagine the dumping would be similar, unless for some reason the lower portion of the small intestine can't handle that high nutrient level and causes dumping (all the way form the colon!) I think it's interesting, and would even be implementable for sleeve if people are struggling. Fantastic!

Some stupid new term they are trying to coin in "health conscious" colorado.

Damn boulder hippies and capital hill hipsters throwing off the curve for the rest of us.

I'm interested in what the results would be, but I hope they are approaching this from a bariatric stand point and not just doing the procedure, but also working on behavior modification.

Wow that's weird! I wonder how it stays put??

As crazy as it sounds... I'd still rather cut out 85% of my stomach than do that! :D

There is some ring that the put in at the bottom of the stomach and sew in place. It looks like a big condom with a ehem... Ring of sorts on the end...

My first thought was, how does this not have some effect on the pyloric valve? If there is something in there, can it "seal" all the way with dense Protein like the sleeve?

I wondering if a chip would scratch it right open?

Diabesity?

Thought it was a typo too, until I read the article.

I think there was something a while back that was similar but different. It was a balloon inserted into the stomach and then inflated to give that full feeling. I wonder what the results of that were?

I agree I would also just rather have 85% of my stomach phsyically removed than do this.

Heyher...BTW, that looks odd. Like what you mentioned. Eeewwww.

I wonder if a sharp pretzel stick or too hot of a chile pepper would damage it? It looks flimsy, but I imagine it would have to be fairly strong.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
