I just got sleeved on 7/25. I haven't had a bm since before my surgery. I'm still on Clear Liquids (I get to start other liquids tomorrow), so I don't know if not pooing is normal or not. Anyone out there have any advice? Sorry for the grossness.

I didn't have a bowel movement until day 4 post op and it was diarrhea and the diarrhea lasted for about two weeks. I'm not a fan of diarrhea but it definately was a time of rapid weight loss. As early out as you are your body is still in shock from the surgery.....I'd give it a few more days before I worried about it.

Ugh. Somehow I posted the same reply 4 times and I can't figure out how to delete them.

Personally I don't like to get constipated so I followed my Dr's advice and took some Milk of Magnesia. That was either 4 or 5 days after surgery. It worked pretty well. It took about an hour for things to happen but it wasn't hours of horrible diahhrea like things I had taken in the past, it was maybe 3 "visits" over the next 2 hours.

I don't like being constipated either, but I'm nervous about taking anything because my incisions are still very tender. I can't even cough without them hurting!

Dont worry about bm.i didnt have any for 8 days post op n my doc said not to worry about it.the only thing you sgould be concerned about right now should be having the urge to pee.if u dont have it then u r not drinking enough liquids n getting dehydrated.so sip sip sip.

Sarabeth, I was also sleeved on July 25 and have had no b/m. Your post cracked me up because I too am having pain from coughing! My wife was sleeved about a year ago and she says she went several days without going. So I think we are ok! Since we were both sleeved on the same day, message me anytime if you have a question and we will compare notes.

It's normal not to go no. 2 for a few days or even a week, especially when you are still on just Clear Liquids. There's nothing in your system to make poo! However, I recommend taking a stool softener once you are in the full liquids stage and especially in the pureed and beyond stage. The lack of fibre caused me to have horrible Constipation and pooing was very painful. I didn't use MOM, probably should have. If you search for constipation on this forum you will find poo-loads of advice for dealing with it. Things can get pretty backed up the first few months post-op. good luck!

pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
