My surgery is on sept 16 and this 2 week fast is killing me, I can't seem to get rid of this headache, my neck is stiff and I'm terribly irritated. My daughter's father had the full bypass surgery 3 yrs ago this month, and has gained most of the weight back, eats everything and keeps offering me food, knowing that I can't. Eating nothing but non-starchy veggie and Water is not fun at all. I hope I make it

Try sugar free gum. It's saved me a ton. Any time I thought I was feeling the munches I'd chew a stick 5 cal is better than a couple hundred. Good luck :)

I think I might have convinced myself mentally that I've already had surgery or something. I seem to be having the opposite problem as most on my pre-op diet. I don't think I am eating enough. I was never a Water drinker except when trying to diet so I am really working on making sure I get at least 64 oz in a day. I was also a smoker for 25+ years who had tried to quit many times. Once I made the decision to move forward and scheduled surgery, I quit cold turkey without a problem!!! I have quit so many times over the years and it is always HARD, so I'm not sure why it was so easy this time. Now I'm not smoking (1 month now), I'm drinking my water, I gave up my Dr. Pepper addiction (3 weeks now) and instead of the 1 week full liquid diet my doctor requires I decided to do 2 weeks. I am 1 week in and getting about 400-650 calories a day and I'm not hungry. In fact between the water and the food I feel like I am always having something and I'm full. My typical day is 2 Protein Shakes, a can of Soup or some broth for dinner and sometimes a sugar free popsicle. I am going to try and make sure I have 3 shakes a day to try and up my calories. Now obviously this isn't the way I always eat or I wouldn't be where I am at now. And typically when I am dieting I am tremendously hungry all the time so this is all very odd to me. I guess I'm taking this to mean that I really am ready. I know I was feeling like I "cheated" on the process since I haven't been through the counseling and visits with nuturitionists and all. I already know I don't qualify through my insurance so I didn't even bother going that route. I did my research, searched my soul and decided this is what I wanted and scheduled it in Mexico. So maybe this is my body's way of telling me that I really am ready for all of this.

That's awesome. I didn't think about sugar free popsicles, have to pick some up. Mine is in Mexico too!

I read a few negative reviews online regarding going that route but I know several ladies here in MS who work in the medical field (rns and such) who went to the facilty my surgery is at. They said it was highly professional and the care they recieved was great. My job doesn't provide insurance so it was my best option. Glad to read I'm not the only one on here going south of the border :)

This sounds almost identical to me, except I used Chantix to quit after 22yrs. I also am not missing my Dr. Pepper like I thought I would. I do have some carbs cravings towards the end of the day. I'm on day 4 of my 7 day liquid pre-op. Also going to Mexico. My surgery is the 12th. Good luck to you :-)

For everyone who has slipped on their diet - I got this from a WW leader and it has really helped me -

"Lapses become failures only when they successfully intimidate you into stopping your weight reduction program. Those who are ultimately most successful in sustaining weight loss learn from their lapses instead of being intimidated by them. The best thing to do when lapses occur is to go to sleep that night and wake up the next day recommitted to following your weight loss program. "

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
