IBS After Being Sleeved

Recommended Posts

If you had IBS prior to surgery, how do you feel post-op? Do you find your symptoms are better or worse?

I don't have it but my hubby does. His is triggered by emotions.

It is horrible to have. I wish you well.

Thanks, Light_Lady and Michellemo! I hope and pray mine gets better! It's not really bad most of the time. But I think the stress of jumping through all the hoops to get insurance approval and the thought of surgery has triggered mine to be bad. I go from diarrhea to being constipated. It sucks. I'm also lactose intolerant and that doesn't help matters. Ugh! I just hope for improvement (or remission!).

Cheer moma, I sympathize with your hubby. Stress is my biggest trigger.

I am 3 yrs post-op and have recently been diagnosed with IBS, I seem to go alternating weeks of non-stop diarrhea and frustrating Constipation. In the last 11 days I have had 3 BMs and they weren't totally satisfying. I hesitate to break out the Miralax, I take flaxseed every day and nothing. But two weeks ago, I was going 4-5 times a day, quarts and quarts (sorry) of diarrhea. I eat clean, lots of veggies, fish, green tea, no sugar, no starch. Help!

The sleeve as taking my IBS away too. The doctor always said I didn't have it THAT bad please tell that to my constant upset stomach. But it's gone now and I couldn't be happier!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
