I am on the 6th day of my post-op liquid diet...6 more to go. Not sure i can make it. At this point the shakes are making me nauseous. My stomach is constantly churning and I'm in the bathroom every 15 minutes (tmi I know) . Any tips to get through this would be appreciated.

I remind myself this period is temporary. One day at a time! Keep a list of the reasons you did this handy and refer to it. It helps me! I am 16 days PO.

Have you tried broths? They don't have Protein, but they do have salt and a different taste. When I was on post op liquids, I used to go to a restaurant and request just the broth from chicken noodle, or French onion or vegetable Soup. It always gave me an energy lift and counted towards liquids. I guess a lot of people do this, as the restaurant staff was always very nice about it.

I will even confess to having some strained broccoli cheddar Soup, but not very much as it didn't go down as well as the broth.

Hang in there. It will get better. I am 8 weeks post op and into soft foods now, but I have to keep them really soft in order to not upset my little tummy.

Are you making your shakes with milk? A lot of sleevers become lactose intolerant....I had trouble with my shakes- lots of bubbles, burping, sliming. Then two days out I switched to light soy - you can also try almond milk, and I was Sooo much better! If you haven't switched, try that and see if it makes a difference.

I had a horrible time right after surgery. In fact, I couldn't do Protein Shakes at all until about 2-1/2 wks post-op...until I got a gravy strainer & started straining the foam off my shakes. Have you tried unflavored powder? You can mix it with broth, juice, mio/water.

Excellent idea about straining the foam. I can't tolorate my shakes anymore because of the foam. Gonna try that right now!!! Thanks!

This happened to me too. My nurse said that if my Protein Shake contained whey- which it did- that that was the culprit. Lots of people can't tolerate the whey. Try Isopure from GNC. it is in a clear bottle and cones in tons of flavors. It is DO much better!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
