Hello my friends. Today is my 3 weeks post op.

I can get a lot more fluids in but I'm still struggling to get enough in to get to my Protein goal. I can only get about 200-300 calories in. I don't feel like eating but I am surely trying.

Is this normal? I have my 1 month appt next week and I plan on discussing it with them but I am just curious to how everyone is doing or did at 3 weeks out?

Thanks in advance!!

I was just starting mushy foods at your stage...I remember that my NUT's main advice at that point was to get fluids in, so I would say you are on track there...I might have been eating more like 400-500 calories per day around 3 weeks out, but I was having more problem getting fluids in than soft foods and Protein

Everyone is different. Based on the experiences of others I have read I'd say your experience is normal. I am 3 & 1/2 weeks post op and I can eat about 2 oz of soft food per meal. I get in around 550-600 cal a day. Honestly I wish I couldn't eat so much so maybe I could move past this slump (refuse to call it a stall] I have!

As for Protein, can you get unflavored Protein and add it to Soups? I started doing this. I also have my daily shake, some meat and greek yogurt. I try to hit 70 grams a day as a goal. All of this is based on my guidelines. The fluids are important too so you don't get dehydrated.

At 3 weeks I struggled to get 250-300 cal per day (and still stalled/slumped in weightloss). By the 5th week I was able to get 500-600 per day a began losing weight again. Now I am consistently hitting 800 cals a day (7 weeks out). And I feel as though this is too much. I am struggling with the whole 'head hunger' challenge now as my stomach very rarely actually feels hungry.

So in short.....I would say yes, it's normal ;)

At 3 weeks ( I'm now 8 weeks) I was still on liquids only and dying to start pureed. I also struggled with all the liquids but it all solves itself and at my check up I was doing fine. I guess u learn how to listen to ur body, it knows what it needs and will soon tell u if ur not getting enough x it starts to become slightly easier when u move onto soft and crispy stage, u then realise how tiny ur stomach really is!!! I struggle to eat a slice of toast ( really well done and a small slice ) it's amazing how little u spend on shopping!! Lol x

And jenlen I also struggle with head hunger at times!!!! It's a real pain but I've learnt to accept that even though I want it, my stomach will not accept it! X

I just completed my 3rd week today and I struggle to get my 400-500 calories a day. I work it ALL day and its a full time job between getting the calories AND Fluid in. I too hit that 3 week slump, and I actually gained 2 pounds at my weekly weigh in. HOWEVER, despite the weight gain, I lost inches. I don't really dwell on the weight, but concentrate on the inches lost. I weigh myself weekly as part of my documentation, but inches are more important. Good luck to everyone!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
