I am so ________________, I don't even have a word for it! I am 1 month out & I don't think I am loosing any weight. I know I lost 30lbs in the 1st 2 weeks but I think that's it. I don't have a scale because I'm too heavy for a regular one, so I can only weigh when I go to my doctors appointments. I heard that "the larger u are the faster u loose weight" but I don't think this thing is working for me. I feel like a failure, really I do. I'm not excited about this anymore, I don't think I'm getting enough Protein & I'm not sure if that makes u loose or not. I'm not eating many carbs because I'm 100% positive that's what got me like this in the 1st place. I'm only drinking Water because I'm scared to branch off into anything else. I have already had a UTI & been dehydrated...I'm failing. Please, somebody...ANYBODY help me get on track. I've been feeling like I'm hungry & I KNOW its because I'm sad. HELP, I don't know what 2 do!!!!!

Well I can say you are right on track... At one month out most of us fell into a depression!

As far as not losing weight? Don't fret it's impossible not to if you are doing what you need to do. You may not "feel" it, I never do. In fact I don't feel anything until I step on the scale and it tells me one way or the other.

This process is going to take a while. You need to settle into that fact. I know there are SOME people that post crazy losses but not everyone loses that way...

I at some point said to myself I'm going to give myself a year, then I will reevaluate my progress.

Because lord knows this weight was YEARS in the making!

Drink tons of water! Or flavored no calorie Water, at least 70oz a day trust me this is the most important part of this. Measure to make sure your getting it.

Just hang on! You can do this! We here on this site believe in you! It will happen just take a deep breath and calm down. If you need to, have a little crying party, I did at about 2 weeks out and the emotional roller coaster is part of it. But you will get through this :)

You said you were on the heavier side, thats why you can't weigh yourself on a bathroom scale. You've probably lots tons of weight, it just isn't showing up yet in your clothes. When your next drs appt? If it's not for a while, I would either go to the office early and just weigh yourself or buy a better scale, one that would hold your current weight. I think they make them that go up to 500 lbs.

That would drive me crazy only weighing in at the drs office only once every few months or so. I'm an everyday weigher, so every 3 mths wouldn't work for me.

You're doing fabulously, btw. Drinking lots of Water, cutting back on carbs, eating lotso Protein....nothing else I could add that would help! Congrats! You're doing terrific! Bet you've lost lotso weight!

Aside from echoing exactly what Laura said, I'll add this question. Do you track what you take in with MyFitnessPal or similar program? I find this helps a lot in making sure I am getting in my Protein. While getting in your Water is most important, in the next few weeks you should work on getting in your protein and calories too. What food stage are you in your diet? I still have a hard time "seeing" my loss when I look in the mirror. Stick with what your doctor recommended and share with your NUT your frustration. You have the right idea about not going off track, and that is a HUGE part of the process. I need to stay away from carbs too, but I've found that if I have my 4oz. of protein, I'm not even looking for anything else. I'm so glad you reached out. We are in this together, and have been through the doubts, fears and anxieties.

Vitamin water zero has been a lifesaver for me, I can still drink it better than regular water so I make sure to always have some handy.

Try not to get discouraged, focus on the things you have control over, getting in your water/protein and moving as much as you can, and the sleeve will do its job.

Good luck!!

I'll tell you what you're gonna do, you're gonna calm down!

You lost 30lbs in the first two weeks and you think you haven't lost any more but you don't know? I'm a bigger person, I started out at 416 and at no point (even after surgery) have I lost 30lbs in two weeks. You are being way too hard on yourself.

The other thing you're gonna do is you're going to get those fluids and Protein in because if you don't, your body WILL stop trying to lose weight in order to protect itself. You MUST nourish your body, it's no longer an option.

HUGS

Im so sorry your having this stress, and I understand your frustration. I think (fingers crossed) I have just broken an eight week stall/plateau/gain. The most important thing really is fluids and Protein.

We need to believe it will come off. It's important to believe. But when it dosent it's so tempting to just eat something. It is so scary worrying that this wont work!

Is there somewhere you can go to just use their scale? My sis is a pcp and I know if you were one of her patients she would be overjoyed to let you pop in once a week just to weigh. So when is your next follow-up appt?

I know how you feel. The worry that "what if THIS doen't work" rears its ugly head from time to time. When it does, I log in and read other's posts. I have never had a feeling or worry that hasn't been touched on here. Reading words of encouragement, knowing that others have gone through and are going through the same feelings/concerns helps. I went years believeing I must be the only one who feels this way because I was always the biggest person I knew. But you know what, here we are connected by this specific issue. I took so much information from those that came before me. I read about what they did when they stalled, took advice on the best way to succeed and took comfort in thier kind words of support. I love my doctor and NUT and am still convinced I made the best choice for me. But, reading other's experiences here hits home for me. I know you all know what I feel. And we can relate to your struggles too. You are not alone through this and there are tons of people (me included) who are more than happy to buck you up, share what worked for us or just listen when you're concerned this won't work. Slow loss will happen to some, stalls will happen to some, don't give up, don't go off your plan. Do the very best you can, it is all any of us can do. You are still not very far out from surgery. still healing and your body is adjusting. I really have found that eating the small meals several times a day make it easier to get in the Protein, not feel hunger and stay energized. Tracking will not only give you a good big picture but it will help your doctor know what is working for you and what is not.

You got this! Take control where you can, plan your meals - - search for recipies that you will enjoy. I enjoy food, so it helps me greatly to know that I'm not on another "diet" where I can't enjoy anything. Dont' be afraid to add in food items or liquids (staying on your doctors plan, of course) just do it slowly and you'll expand your choices.

I hope today is a better day for you, you are doing great so far and this is just the beginning.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
