I'm 2 weeks post op today. I have lost 30 lbs so far (wish it was more!). I'm having a hard time finding food to eat. I can not tolerate any Protein Shakes , milk or yogurt. I usually have some tea, juice, Water , tuna, SF Popsicles and pudding. Do you guys have any recipes or any food ideas I'm getting so tired of the same thing everyday and any suggestions about what I can replace the Protein Shake with?

Try Isopure Protein Drinks. I found them better than the milky Protein Shakes. They have 40g of Protein, I used to mix have bottle with Water and drink it all the day.

Mix some fruit flavored Protein Powder with Jello mix before you make it. Also, I was eating scrambled and poached eggs at that point. Maybe your doctor allows that as well.

30lbs in 2 weeks??? Is that all since surgery? I would think that is way above average! I would be thrilled with that!

If you can eat some cottage cheese. It has twice the Protein as a glass of milk...Get some real turkey or chicken slices and roll them up....A couple of multi-grain crackers and you have a great lunch....I ate this a lot when I could not stand the Protein shakes anymore and was literally hurling them after I drank them.....

That is 1 idea!

not sure of your dr's plan, but at 2 weeks I was starting some mushy foods, like scrambled eggs...you could also try low-fat refried Beans or peanut butter--I see a lot of people on here like those...you might also be able to move on to creamy Soups like cream of chicken or cream of mushroom..best to you...and as another poster pointed out, if you have lost 30 pounds post-op, then that it is better than average for sure...I am a slow loser but I am 2 months out and have only lost 30 pounds post-op

Every Dr is different, but mine requires 2 Protein Shakes a day (50g Protein total), in addition to your protein from food. I asked if I could replace the protein in one shake with food instead of the shake, but they said no. The protein from the food we eat is a bonus, since we actually need 70-80g per day. If we get 50 from the shakes, then we can try to make up the rest from the limited amounts of food we can eat. Also, if you aren't getting enough protein, you are more likely to have Hair loss, so its important to drink the shakes, nasty or not. :-) Just keep trying different types to see which ones you like. I tried about 6 different kinds and gagged on all of them. I finally found one that I like, and have no problem drinking them.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
