I just came back from the Doctor she said my BMI is at 39.7. Do I have to exactly be at 40 in order to get the surgery? Im not sure I have 2 comorbidities so I wont qualify. She said she could just put me at 40 if need be but if my paperwork sats 39.7 insurance will reject it, correct

I don't think you need to be 40... I read about people with a BMI of 35-40 with no cormorbidities getting weight lost surgery. Do your research, because you at the 40 mark!!! I have BCBSIL ***, but my BMI is 45.

I have not been to seminar yet. I called my insurance and they said that my policy doesn't cover bariatric surgery at all. I have bcbs- Illinois. .i am saddened by this. Does anyone else know if there is differences in the coverage that makes a difference. My bmi is 51.

I have BCBSIL as well and yes, it depends what policy your employer has chosen on whether or not it is allowed. My former employer did not allow it, luckily my current one does.

It depends on your employer. I also have BCBSIL ***, I work at University of Chicago Medical Center... so naturally any health related surgery would be covered. Contact your benefits department and find out. The employer may not have the bariatric ride attached to their policy for their employees.

I'm all good to go, go see the surgeon tomorrow. I have completed pretty much everything else except for the dietician which I will schedule tomorrow. Beyond excited and nervous!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
