Has anyone had the sleeve done with Dr. Mario Almanza in TJ MX?

A.H. I'm one year out from Almanza and very happy with the results! Please feel free to ask any questions about the process / people, etc.

I spoke with one of his patients earlier today who has had MAJOR complications from his surgery. He hasn't even had a bite of food since August. Dr. Almanza made his stomach so tiny that it keeps collapsing and he has went thru several surgeries to correct it, but they can't fix it. I believe now he is going to convert to bypass. He said his surgeons here in the states have tried contacting Dr. Almanza but never will he return any calls. I told him that he needed to get on here and tell his story and he plans on doing so. This isn't the first story that I have heard about this doctor... please do extensive research before selecting your surgeon. Go with your gut! :)

I had Almanza. 4 months ago. He was great, I felt safe the whole time, the staff was excellent, and I was never afraid of the surgical center vs. the hospital. Everything went very smoothly and I would not hesitate to recommend him.

I had no issues at all after surgery and I think he did a great job. I have a sleeve that will tolerate anything I put in it and he must have stapled/sewn me up real good on the inside because this thing does not stretch and it does not hold much at all.

A lot of people seem to have doubts or reservations about Almanza, but from my perspective they are unfounded. You will most likely get some links to horror stories or someone will tell you that he is a 'dangerous man'. Not true and if you poke around enough you will find unpleasant stories about most any doctor - foreign or domestic.

It was fine and he will give you exactly what you ask for.

Thank you for that. I am having my surgery with dr almanza at the jerulsium hospital. And was looking for reassurance, thanks

How did your surgery go and how are you??

My advise to EVERYONE who is looking for a doc is: ONLY listen to patients who have had the surgery with the doc in question. I am really sick and tired of all the heresay an innuendo that is passed on from a friend of a friend, etc.

I had a tremendous experience with Dr Almanza and find it very concerning that people continue to pass along experiences when they haven't experienced them directly. Long live Mrs. Kravitz!

Just go to google and type in Dr Almanza and read some stuff

Great advice. I was there. He did my surgery. No problems. I'd stick with sharing your own experience.

I have a friend who had his dreadful experience as well. Talk to him all the time. He might be able to eat food eventually now that they have converted him to a bypass

That's unfortunate for him. Let him come on and talk about his experience. You're not qualified to do so.

I originally posted this question several times. I am now 14 months out from when I had my surgery. Everything went great. I was scared by the first impression of the clinic but must say it was clean. They was never a minute I didn't see someone cleaning. You couldn't leave the restroom without someone going in behind you and cleaning it. I was treated extremely well and tended to often. I was lucky enough to be able to have my loved one stay with me the entire time except during surgery. I paid extra to have a private room where he could stay and I paid extra to be the first patient of the day. I have had no complications and weigh 135 today!! I love it and don't regret it one bit. I was the best and healthiest life change I have done for myself. I love the way I feel and the way I look. I am heathy and feel great. I can eat whatever I want but in moderation of course, meaning small meals. With that being said I felt a sigh of relief when I was home and felt like I got thru without any problems. If I had to do it over again I would do it exactly the same cause it all went perfect for me. However if I was taking a friend or loved one I would recommend having it done in a hospital just in case. It was scary and I feel lucky to have come thru without any complications. He did an excellent job.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
