EXERCISE 3 WEEKS POST OP

Recommended Posts

OK, when I got my tube out a week ago, Doctor was all upbeat and was like "get out and walk"! Walking happens to be my exercise of choice, I love it, but I am having trouble getting started since surgery, I believe it is due to eating so little, that I don't have a lot of "ooommmph" left. And never was a morning exercise person, I prefer evenings. I wondered when some of you got started or had trouble with energy? -_-

I do find that I have less "umph" in the evenings. I try to get my walk in during the day.

Can you go walk at lunch for 15 - 20 minutes, and then as soon as you get home in the afternoons for 15 - 20 minutes?

I've been walking about 30 mins a day and doing other exercises about 30 minutes a day. I just started off small... Ok, I'll walk to that mailbox and back. Then the next day I'd walk two houses past that and so on. Once I got started with the walking I had much more energy. I plan on increasing each day until I'm walking enough.

My doctor wanted me to walk 2-3 times a day. By day 5 post surgery I walked 3 miles at a very slow pace. My energy level was low. I'm finding it's getting better. I've been to the gym twice and I'm going tonight for Zumba. I will drink a Carnation Instant Breakfast before going just to get more Protein in me. I find that helps me out a lot.

Do what you can do. Don't give up. Your energy will come back and it's different for everyone.

Iwould just go to Walmart and walk around because my energy level was so low,and that way I can hold on to the basket,it took a long time for my energy level to come back, and I do not leave the house without Water never..

It's good to know I'm not the only one with low energy levels. I'm 6 days post op and I walked for 30 mins today. My legs felt like spaghetti :-(

I went back to my personal trainer on Monday. I almost fainted. I didn't realize how weak I've become till then. I had been feeling great. Now I'll slow down and try again this week.

YES..good way to explain it...my legs feel the same way. But I am going to start just slow, a few short ones a day and try and build up.

I'm right there with you all on the energy levels. Personally, I love to exercise (was an aerobic instructor/weight trainer during my college years), but my energy zaps so quickly now I can barely walk a mile without feeling faint. It's a full time job getting food and liquid in, and despite the all day constant effort, I can barely get 500 calories in (which, by the way, is a recent victory...I was barely getting 200 cals the first week). Getting better, but I must say I AM loving my sleeve...11 days post op and 15 pounds down :D

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
