HELP ME! Put on Reglan or another acid blocker for reflux since surgery? Did you gain or stop losing? *sigh*

Recommended Posts

Well, I am 12 days out today. AT the 7th day I started with horrible acid reflux, horrible painful lava coming up my esophugus. fun. Finally called my surgeon's cell and she called in Reglan. And said I can take zantac (in between) . Well, I am also on the stupid blood thinner for a few more days. I have completely stopped losing weight. I even gained 3 flippin' pounds. I am hoping it is just all the toxic medicine. I had been put on Cymbalta for a car accident (pain) and gained 80 pounds in 6 months (prior surgery) WHILE DIETING!!!!!!! Uggggg!!! *sigh* SO, I know my body doesn't handle meds well. So, here are my questions...

1. Did anyone have to go on acid blocking meds since sugery? Were you able to get off of them?

2. Did you all just lose, lose, lose, your first few months? Did anyone "stall" or even gain this early out?

3. Could you please encourage me, I am so upset and doing all the "right" things. :(

4. How long did you have to take Lovenox or your blood thinner after surgery... the shot makes me feel queasy and like I have to lay down after. :(

Yes...I am still on Protonix, otherwise I do have reflux still. Stalling early on is quite common. Be patient. Things will kick in. I have stalled twice...the first time being right around the dreaded 3 week mark. The second time, I was stuck for 3 weeks, but dropped a whole pants size in the meantime. I have been a little bit of a slow loser, but as of this morning I am down 82 lbs. overall and 68 since surgery, in just over 6 months. Never would have happened without the surgery. Remember, the surgery is not a miracle cure...it is a tool. You have to give your body a chance to catch up with what is going on. Again I will quote my doctor...this is a marathon, not a sprint.

I am sorry you are experiencing this. I had a few stalls in the beginning and gained a pound or two here and there. But stall happen through out the entire process. I know it is hard but don't give up you have come too far to give up now. The meds are only temporary so hopefully you want need them soon and the weight will just begin to fall off. As for the blood thinners I did not have to take those at all. I am not sure why they gave them to you. But I am anemic anyway so I probably wouldn't need them.

I was having a lot of trouble swallowing the first few days after surgery (Mon June 3). My doc prescribed Reglan at my follow-up appointment on Friday. I took the med a couple of times and found that I was able to swallow better within a couple of days. The first week, I lost 10 lbs....the second week nothing (gained a couple back that week even) and then the scales started downward again. I've lost 18 since my first visit to the docs office....and 13 in the 3 weeks since surgery. (My ticker includes the 5 lbs that I kept off from weight watchers for a total of 23 lbs from my highest weight)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
