How long did your insurance take to approve ?!

I'm just curious how long it to everyone to get insurance approval? I just submitted mine and thanks to a fellow Sleever I will call to confirm it was submitted correctly! :)

I pretty sure it was like 2 or 3 days.

It has been 2 weeks for me so far. I talked to the surgeons office friday and they showed insurance as pending. They were going to check with them today about it. Then, about an hour ago, I got a call from insurance wanting to verify some information and make sure I understand who is and who may not be in network as far as Dr, hospital etc. They will be calling me back this evening. Hopefully not much longer.

Mine has 72 hours which is 3 business days to make a decision

When you are checking for approval do you call the insurance or surgeon ?

I have Aetna, they told me it was a 72 hr turn around to....I submitted on the 10th...as of yesterday still under review

Edit

Just got approval last nite...surgery is tuesday:-)

I have Anthem. My doctor's office submitted it Friday before memorial day, and I called insurance to check the status on Tuesday afternoon and it was approved.

I didn't have to wait on the insurance at all... it was the doctor's office that dragged their feet. But I'm scheduled now, so all is forgiven.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have BCBS of MI PPO...meeting with NUT for 6 months (normal??)...making my psych appt tomorrow..anyway to speed up this process?

Anyone?

I have the same insurance I wish there was something to speed the process but there isn't =\. In Aug I will have my last weight management class

I have BCBS and i called after about 36 hours just to make sure they "got it" and they approved right then over the phone. Was shocked at how quick considering the office coordinator told me it would be about 2 weeks!

I have Empire BC/BS and my surgeon's office submitted the paperwork on 7/19 or 7/22 and I got my approval today!!

Hope all who are waiting on that approval call/letter get it soon!!

I should have mentioned mine is BCBSNC

I submitted July 1st. I've really been given the run around between anthem and my surgeons office. I'm trying really hard to ignore the bumps along the way, but it isn't easy.

Isn't there a time limit as to how long they can make you wait for an answer?

I was reading in this forum and noticed that we both have BCBSNC. Did you have to do a 6 month monitored program prior to approval?
