July 1 sleevers- are we getting ready?

So, I know there are a LOT of July 1 sleevers out here. Just wondering how prep is going?

I have some Protein powders I like, some chewable Vitamins, and some b12 vitamins. I am stocking up on sugar free Popsicles and gonna start getting broth and creamy Soups this week at my grocery list. Now just to prep the house for mom being laid up for a week.

I didn't have a pro op diet. Just all liquids for today and nothing after 12 midnight. I attended a hugh cookout yesterday and as I was eating I was thinking to myself how that would be my last big plate if food like that. I'm nervous this morning. My Dr did say he will give something for anxiety in the morning

I would have to have some heavy sedation to touch this anxiety! I'm nervous- it's such a HUGE step! I'm can't wait, but I am quite nervous!!

just joined this website....getting sleeved tomorrow at 10:30am! i have not told anyone other than my sister and my husband....my husband is nervous in a very sweet supportive way. he wants to know what to expect for the first few days when i am home. he has to leave the 4th for work travel and is concerned about leaving me alone. i am nervous about reacting to the anesthesia and i have never had a catheter...but most worried about leak test! i have the worst gag reflex and worried i won't be able to drink the contrast and dye.

6am tomorrow is my time! Not nervous I just want to fast forward to recovery. I feel that I have prepared all I can so I'm just relaxing and praying for it to go well. Good luck everyone ????????

I too will be sleeved tomorrow 7/1 God willing :)

Good luck everyone! I will be thinking of all my fellow July 1st sleevers! I need to be at the hospital in 14 hours. My son has has just come down with scarlet fever (not as bad as it sounds) so thankfully I have already been on antibiotics for something else. So bad news is that my husband will have to stay at home with him so I will be facing this on my own. It's not what I imagined, but I keep thinking of all the brave people that travel to a different state or country alone! So at least I will have him by my side post-op. I can't wait to hear of everyone's post op experiences in a few days :D

I need to be at the hospital at 6 and am scheduled for 7:30. I'm a bit nervous, but I think lots of my nerves were about the 14 day liquid preop diet and now that that is almost over, I know that I can exercise restraint and willpower and will hopefully be in good stead for the lifestyle changes that come with this surgery. At this point, I just want to be on the other side of this. Of course, I also expect this to kind of be like the last week of pregnancy when you're sick of being pregnant already, just want to have the baby, but don't realize until afterwards how much easier it was to take care of the baby in than out. :)

I'm SO with you on that.

My surgeon's NP told me that if I'm really anxious at check-in tomorrow, they will offer me a sedative. I think I'll take it!

Heck, maybe they can bring it out to the parking lot and dose me as soon as I roll up!! smilielol.gif

Why am I nervous? I had open heart surgery and lived through childbirth twice! I feel my food demons trying to put bad thoughts in my head.

Anyone else have butterflies in their stomach?

Oh yes, butterflies are totally there!!! Nothing else is! :-/.

It's a huge step, but the right one. One foot in front of the other

Good luck July firsters! Please update us when you can.

Sometimes I think my butterflies are actually bats! bat.gifbat.gifbat.gif

Well' date=' just to clarify, I am CRAZY nervous too! Now, maybe it's the medical background, but I'm not nervous about the surgery itself. I am nervous about post op- the nausea, the pain, the potential for complications. I was told my doctor sends us out of recovery room with a PCA- an IV that we control. Most people would be pleased, but I'm thinking, they don't give a PCA to people with no pain.

I'm trying to stay super busy this weekend, so I don't have a lot of time to worry![/quote']

I barely used any of the medicine in the pump. Used it more for sleep because after sleeping all day because of the anesthesia I wasn't sleepy. I would relate the pain to how your stomach would feel after doing sit ups when you haven't exercised in a long time. I don't do real well with anesthesia, but as soon as it wore off I was good to go. You are going to do great and I will be praying for all of you!

July sleevers' date=' there are ONLY TWO main things you need to take to the hospital with you...... Your cell phone......AND some CHAPSTICK!!!!! Omg!!! And you will reach for the Chapstick before you reach for your phone!!! My aunt had to bring me some, It felt like HEAVEN gliding across my lips.... Just a lil FYI[/quote']

We were on the same day. How did you do? I thought about you that morning..

well...typing this from my hospital room! got my sleeve at 10:30am this morning! all went well...though apparrently my liver is not good, but the weight loss should help. pain has been manageable, the spot where my iv needle bothers me most. dying for water but not until tomorrow! so happy to have made it to the other side!
