On-Q cathedar for pain? Did anyone else have this post op?

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering how long it took for the bag to empty? Did you have more pain after you removed it? I've had minimal pain, and have maybe a day or two left of the meds in the bag. I'm afraid once it runs out I will have more pain. It's really doing a good job keeping everything numb, I can touch my abdomen and its partially numb, so I'm afraid of what it will feel like once the meds are gone.

Mine was for three days. Didn't feel anything at all when it was removed and no hanged in discomfort level after it was removed.

Had surgery on a Tuesday and pulled it on Friday. Didn't hurt to pull it, but was a little sore in that area for about 24 hrs.

I had surgery on Tuesday, and its still full, definitely smaller, but about the size of a small mandarin orange. Hoping it will be gone soon. I'm tired of being hooked up to something.

I felt like a St. Bernard with that pouch around my neck.

I got sleeved on Tuesday and I think I pulled it out on Thursday. I was told that when the Fluid was gone from both sides of the ball that it was empty. As far as pain, the day of surgery it felt like a gas pain that would't go away and the pain meds they gave me helped. About a day later I only felt a little soreness (like I had done too many situps the day before) and the liquid hydrocodone made it all better. :D

My only regret surrounding surgery time was that the doctor told me I could pull that out whenever I wanted and I was feeling comfortable and I hated that thing so I took it out early. It was only after it was gone that I realized how much it was helping me.

I would leave it alone until it was empty/the doctor told me to pull it out if I had it to do all over again.

Mine didn't appear to be emptying at all for the first day and a half and then all of a sudden it started getting smaller. Had surgery on a Friday and it was empty by Monday. Didn't hurt at all to take out.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
