Surgery Experience: Dr. Kelly 6/10/13

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve done yesterday by Dr. Kelly at Hospital Nova. I have nothing but great things to say. I'm a little sore this morning. I wish my back didn't hurt so bad from gas, but it's all good. My doc in the state missed that I had a hernia which was apparently pretty bad. I'm grateful that's fixed also.

I was walking to the loo last night. I'm hoping things continue to get better today.

Negatives: the couch for the hubby sucks. They never brought him blanket or sheets, so he's constantly peeling himself off the vinyl. No bottle Water to brush teeth.

I'll write more later.

We are now at hotel Lucerna, after the leak test at hospital Angeles. The hotel is really comfortable and high service levels. They just delivered a fruit basket to our room.

I'm feeling sore, like too many sit ups, but went for a walk anyway. :). I feel strong. No hunger.

I'm glad you're doing so well! I think the soreness you feel is normal... I described it as having had a toddler jump on my chest. :) A fruit basket, eh? I didn't get anything like that! :) Relax and heal well.

I didn't get a fruit basket either...but wouldn't have been able to eat it anyway. You are probably a little more sore with the hernia repair. I had Dr Kelly do mine on May 30th at florence, leak test at Angeles and stayed at Lucerna also.

Good luck, you will feel better soon.

I'm down 20lbs! I'm officially in a 12/14. Woot Woot. I'm feeling great! I'm walking, not quite where I was before surgery, but I'm working on it.

I've been in and out of the hospital since 6/19. Every surgeon who has seen my incision has said Dr.Kelly did a great job.

I came down with acute pancreatitis caused by a gall stone. Yesterday, they went in a removed my gall bladder.

My recommendation to anyone considering this surgery is that you work with your PCP to do some pre-op before heading to MX. First, ask your doctor to order an endoscopy to identify a hernia. Second, get an ultrasound of your gall bladder to make sure it won't cause you issues as you drop the weight....and it does come off quickly.

Sad thing is...with my insurance....my dr can order tests but my insurance always denies everything. I'm 55, my dr ordered a bone density test..insurance said no pay for...you gotta be 65. :(

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
