I got to start on soft foods (Mostly eggs, cheese and refried beans) when I was two weeks out. I gradually added more and more every two weeks. My doc has a slow advancement of foods. I still have instructions on when to add certain foods out to 12 weeks. Most people are released to eat a "normal" diet at 6 weeks post op. It all depends on your doc/NUT. What do they have to say?

What does your dr require? Mine was

1st week clear liquids

2nd week liquids

3rd week purée

4th week mushies

5th week smushies

6th week wean into solid low carb

Wow, smushies! That's a new stage I haven't heard before!

I'm gonna guess that mushies would be things that are a little firmer than purées, and smushies a little harder than that? I'd like to know which foods fit into the mushy/smushy categories, though!

Could you share that info with us please? I think the order of adding things back into your diet would be really important!

My doctor isn't too conservative. He has us starting with purée 2 days after surgery for 4 weeks, then regular food.

You had mushy smushy after purée??

:P

I'm counting down the days to soft foods too. I can't wait just to have some eggs & cheese.
