My surgeon nor my nutritionist would even suggest a goal weight for me. They asked me my goal and said it was great....I was wondering what's real though???

Starting weight:254lbs Oct 2012

Starting liquid diet:232lbs June 2013

I'm an apple shape. I am 31 years old. I am 5'10".

What's a real goal for me. I told the doctors 175....but I'm leaning closer to 160...

Thoughts?

They told me to expect to lose about 50% - 60% of my excess weight. Ideal weight for your height is 135 - 165; so, 232 - 135 = 97 * 60% = 58.2 pounds lost. Of course that is just a rule of thumb ... You might go right past that or just above that. Good luck!! :)

I said 200#, (was 423) and they said fine. I guess they say fine as long as it's in a WIDE ballpart. Remember AVERAGE weight loss is just that, an AVERAGE. You decide if you will be on the high or low side of the average. I guess what I am saying is get your head to follow your program and your body will follow and do the rest.

Aim for a "normal" BMI to begin with and then adjust your goal to how you look and feel? I dont believe there are limits to the sleeve ... you've just got to work at it, and the harder it will be closer you get to goal :) At 5"9 I am aiming for 165lbs (first goal) - roughly 15lbs to go! It doesnt matter if it takes me a year to get there, I'm still gonna do it!

I figured out what my normal BMI weight is and went for the high end of my Normal (healthy ) BMI. For me that was 150....5'6"

I have heard that you should subtract 15 from your BMI and that is a reasonable goal for most people unless that puts them underweight. I started with almost 44 so my surgeon's goal would be a 29 BMI. Of course I want to get lower than that but that's the goal the surgeon feels sure about. I want to get to 22 BMI! But I'm not stressing. Downward is good no matter where I stop.

I am 5'10" also and for me at 170 pounds my bones are sticking out. You will know when you get to the weight if it is good for you. It is all about how you feel and look.

Thank you! I know I can do it! I've never been so determined to do anything!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
