Crushed pills-YUCK! Any ideas???

Recommended Posts

I use pudding sometimes too, but have found a bite or two on my meds and it gets small enough to chase down with some tea. Metformin is salty, Benecar is ok, my Cymbalta, I just open the capsule and take. Have had no problems with it.

After a fill, I will mix with pudding or yogurt. Have even been known to use sour cream in a pinch...

I just crush mine and then mix them in with a little juice and suffer. The secret for me is to always have a chaser (juice) so that I can get that gross taste out of my mouth immediately.

Good advice about the time released. I took mine crushed for 2 days....spent a lot of time in the bathroom and blamed it on the surgery. It was probably overdose~oh well, live and learn!

I just learned a helpful tool! I have tried it and it works if you do it right! Ok ... While standing...after you put you pills (un crushed) into your mouth, you take a decent drink of Water and then ....you bend your neck down... look at your toes and then swallow! The pills go down and stay down. Sometimes it does not not work if I do not have my pills in my mouth far enough, or I do not use enough water...it happens! But the majority of times it is 100%. I take over a dozen pills in the am and pm and have been crushing mine because they were getting stuck in my band. I no longer have to do that. I f this post helps at least one other person I will be pleased.

I'm with Betty, I cut my pills in 4ths and swallow with Water. I have asked my pharmacist several times on different medications and she's been a great help! They love when people ask their advice that's what they went to school to do :) Ask away!

Hi there.... I was banded March 2006.(From size 20 to 13 now and from 40 DDD to 36 DD )

I smashed my meds and then put them on a spoon with a bit of water. Then I put them in my mouth and swallowed them with apple juice.

Another thing I did was to sip them with a straw that was cut in half.(the medicine was mixed with a bit of apple juice).

Good luck to you!!! Happy Holidays!!!!!

I was banded Dec. 18th 2006 and I couldn't cut or chop my ADD Meds because they are time release, so I talked to my ADD doctor and LB doctor and they told me not to take them for 2-3 weeks, and that my stomach would be able to handle them after that because some people can take tylenol, and my meds are luckily about the size of that. But it is hard being with out it, I have to have others drive me places and help me concentrate. (also I am very lucky i'm on xmas break for college or i'd be screwed).

Does anyone have problems taking tylenol sized medicine after 2-3 weeks?

P.S. - Sorry if I spelled something wrong, I'm not that great at spelling.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
