Anyone else sleeved Monday may 20

Recommended Posts

So I was sleeved may 20. I lost 20lbs the first two weeks and haven't lost since. Stuck on the same number for the last week! What is going on? I was having a hard time with the puree stage, i know I wasn't eating enough, but I'm moving onto soft solids this week with hopes it gives me a kick in the butt! Feeling discouraged, know I shouldn't but worried I'm not losing. Any suggestions? Please.....

Sleeved 5/21 and feeling pretty good. Struggling with life this week as the love of my life has left. Tmi I know but let me tell ya I can't get a thing in and I was rocking this!! I started at 257 and I'm now at 220 so I'm feeling good about being down 37lbs in 3 weeks! Congrats to all and best of luck.

What was your starting weight? I lost 20 lbs the first two weeks too, but then gained 10, and lost it again. So, I am still at a 20lb weight loss. Starting week 4 today. I was sleeved the 21st of May. I took a side shot before surgery, and then this saturday, and you can see the difference, but when I do my measurements, it's only a few inches here and there. It's strange. I've been getting a lot of walking and gardening in. I can't be eating more then 500 calories a day, and I am in deep ketosis, have been since surgery. I still have some pain with twisting and bending. My stiches have not dissolved all the way, and sometimes the incision locations hurt bad. I have a really bad hematoma at the manipulation site. I can't get the Protein Shakes down at all. But I have tried a lot of foods and they all seem okay. I am suppose to be eating 6-8 oz of food now, but I can barely get 2-3oz depending on what it is. I made my family pot roast with roasted potatoes, carrots, celery and onion last night (yes, even though it was 103 degrees here) and I was able to get it all down after chewing it well. That was my first time with red meat since prior to surgery. All veggies and fruits are going and staying, and I am able to eat chicken breast as long as I cook it very tenderly.

I lost 10 lbs the first week and not a lb more since. Also sleeved on the 20th.. Everything makes me nauseous. I barely eat anything, was put on the liquid diet till further notice since my sleeve was so tight that purée wasn't going down easy. I'm very discouraged and depressed. Not to mention tired and weak. ):

I was sleeved May 21st.

My post will be a stark contrast to those above. When I awoke after the surgery I wanted to take a walk. The nurse said the effects of the surgery would hit me like a monster very soon. Well no show. I was in only mild discomfort and the next day I was walking all over the hospital feeling fine. I never had to take the Gas X strips I brought with me and Water went down NP. I was in the hospital 2 nites then a hotel 2 nites and I drove myself home (4 hour drive) when I got back from the airport. I take pills and yes the shakes get old pretty quick but small price to pay. I have lost 37 pounds so far and realize I just skipped the discomfort and issues you guys are suffering from. My point is I was lucky can't account for it I'm just surfing that wave until it crashes against the reef.

Thank you for your post. I'm on week 3 now. Can start soft solids tomorrow. Hoping to get more Protein in then. How can I find out if my body is in ketosis? Prob am, but hoping with more walking it will kick start. I've been told that week 3 sometimes is a stall. I started at 225, and have been at 205 for a week now. Can't wait to be in onederland! Its been almost 19 yrs since I was last there. Thanks for sharing good to know I'm not alone. Good luck!

How's everyone doing at 4-5 weeks out?!

Im loving being on my soft diet. My calories have increaaed from eating around 300-500 to around 600-700. As long as I get all my Protein and Water in I lose weight steadily. The couple times ive stalled for a few days was because I wasnt quite meeting my protein goals. Ive lost 34.5lbs. Drinking pretty normally...restriction is good. I can eat about half a cup for slowly although most of the time its less. Im just having a hard time not grazing.

Hope everyone elaee is doing good!!!

Hi all!! I'm down 26 lbs but I'm a little concerned. I have no energy and barely eat anything. I forget to eat and when it's time to eat I can't seem to do it. It's hard for me. I feel like crying. My lips are chapped and I feel so weak. I wanna eat but it kindve disgusted.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
