Lightweights in the house! Any more people with less to lose/less BMI's?

Recommended Posts

When I started three months ago my weight was 250, and I am a male with height of 5"7. That put me at a 37 BMI I believe, I have lost 18 since and my BMI is now 36. I get my official surgery date for October today when I meet with the surgeon at 3pm. It has been a journey and a half with A LOT or work and A LOT more to come. I look forward to looking and feeling informal, and hopefully bye bye to cholesterol and high blood pressure and the sleep apnea machine (which I didn't even know I had sleep apnea until all my pre testing for the sleeve).

Hey all! I am updating my status on here. I went to see my surgeon today and the 5yr weight history is probably going to get me denied. I am 5'6 and 252lbs currently but the insurance wants to see that I was over weight BMi over 35 for the last 5yrs. well my bmi was 33.9 for about 2 of those years. Surgeon said he has seen it go both ways' date=' get denied by some and approved by some. So basically is sit and wait now. He said it could take about a month..ugh...I don't wanna wait a month and Im hoping I don't have to. I have UHC and I hope they get on it and over look my weight history!! lol[/quote']

My doctor's office and I have received verbal approval from ins. co. for my surgery. In order to get a surgery date, my doctor's office requires a written letter. The letter was mailed on 9/18. Hope it arrives on 9/25.

I am a band to sleeve revision patient. My ins. co. waived the six month supervised diet criteria due to band complications.

Looking at a 10/8 if available by the time I get written approval. If that date is unavailable I will have to wait until 10/25 due to work obligations.

Surgery was 4/23 at 196 lbs and 5'2"- and I am Finally considering myself a true lightweight! im down 57 pounds weighing in at 139 and a size 6! 5 months ago this felt like some unrealistic fantasy but today I tried on my wedding dress that I wore 15 years ago and it fits perfectly! I can't explain the feeling.

It isn't all fairydust though- the hair isn't fairing so well, the reflux truly sucks, also never realized just how many stretchmarks I have ALL over my body- but I'm managing. Small prices to pay!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
