    • The Biggest Loser is biased in favor of men; men and women should compete separately.

My sister thinks that a woman will never win the Biggest Loser. On the show men generally start off with a lot more weight to lose but they have more muscle mass and lose weight faster. My sister thinks that because of the way they determine the winner that a woman will never win. She doesn't really have an answer on how she would do it to eliminate the bias that she thinks is there.

I am not sure what I think. In some ways it does seem like the men have a better chance. But on the other hand, it was down to 2 women and 2 men in the final four.

What do you all think? Is it biased? If you think it is biased, how would you fix it? Should the men and women compete together or separately?

I would like to see the man and woman biggest loser both get a prize. I would also like to see one season where they take a group that is not quite as heavy as the people they normally pick... and see how they do. Maybe that wouldn't be as dramatic. I liked the at home challenge this time.

I'm not sure actually - because it comes down to percentage body weight lost. Men will always have more muscle than women and they will gain muscle much more easily. With the way they work out on that show, the men must pack on kilos of muscle in the 12 weeks or so and that could actually work to their disadvantage. Women on the other had wont gain as much in muscle weight and may lose more of a percentage of their body weight even if its not as healthy loss iykwim. And women are more prone to Water retention which means they may not have a big loss one week but they could have a HUGE one the next.

They shouldnt go by scales - they should measure actual FAT loss.

Actually, all of those are good points. I didn't think about women and our periods.... or the men gaining more muscle mass.

I love the idea of going on body fat vs. actual weight.

I love the show no matter what. This season was the best by far.

Since they change the format each season, maybe they will have one male and one female winner next year.

Okay here is my 2 cents. The biggest loser is strictly based on percentage lost. BUT...........Men usually lose weight faster than women. I think the reason why is women are on far more diets in their life then men, I think women screw their matabolisms up, and men rarely go on a diet, and their matabolisms are just fast than women, therefore, they lose faster. Thats what I think, not sure if its right, but from my experience, men can drop weight so much faster than women, thats the only reason I can think why they can lose faster. thoughts?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
