I am 9 days post op and drinking fluids. Trying hard to get my Protein shakes in but getting it in. My question is how many people went back to eating purée or soft foods 1 week post op?

Hi there, ask your surgeon if you can progress to cream Soups & also cottage cheese. I would, for example, get Cream of chicken & sprinkle Parmesan cheese (powder type kind) & a little hot sauce in it to kinda spice it up. Now, granted, I've never had much of an issue with Heartburn or Acid reflux, so use your own judgement on the hot sauce. Creativity will help you a lot. Inbox me if you have any specific questions.

hey there I was sleeved on 4/22/13 and down 22.5lbs. and this was my first week on soft foods, dr told me that my 3oz of Protein should be like a Canned tuna Fish consistency. I found canned chick breast which is pretty good I added a half a tsp of fat free mayo some pepper and made chicken salad. I also boiled 3 oz carrots until they were very soft add a 1/2 tsp oc low sodium chicken broth and mash it with the fork. That was my first meal. I tolerated it pretty well. Also grilled salmon is very soft and tender. I was told to do 2 shakes and 1 meal. I prefer to eat my meal at dinner with my family. But was told plain Greek yogurt with a lemon crystal light mix is really good( never tried yet) low fat cottage cheese, egg whites. You will be surprised how 3 oz really fills you up. I have 1 more week on soft foods. Good luck.

I have my first post-op visit tomorrow, so I'll be able to transition to mushy foods then. I cannot WAIT! The head hunger is driving me nuts and I'm dying to have something in my mouth with FLAVOR.

Heartburn has been getting bad, but its only in the evening for some reason. I'm definitely going to bring that up with the Dr tomorrow.

Right there with you. My appointment is Monday. No problem with heartburn or acid but I need FLAVOR!

I have my appointment on Friday. I have to admit I have tried things on a demitasse spoon like yogurt and cottage cheese, even a cracker or two and have not had any problem at all but felt rather guilty. I stopped and last night I used my crockpot and seasoned chicken breast thoroughly hen cooked it down and added Teriyaki Sauce to it. I drained the chicken broth and drank 5 oz of it. I felt sooo much better once I did that.

My doctor did not want any weight on my sleeve other than thin liquids for the first week. After the first week he did not want any weight other than thickened liquids like cream Soup. After the 2nd week mushy foods. He said it was important to follow these guidelines so that the sleeve would not have any stress during the healing process.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
