Learn something about yourself since surgery you never knew before?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone learned something about themselves they would have never guessed before surgery? So far here's what I have learned about myself. I really don't like sweets as I did before, they are ok, but I am happy with just a bite. I am beautiful, fat or thin, and NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS BEING THINNER FEELS! I found that after this, I don't like salty, sugary, greasy, or anything I have loved for my whole life.

My sense of taste and smell have totally changed. I can smell yucky stuff from a mile away, this week mushrooms smell like horse manure and the smell of raw meat makes me want to gag. I think most importantly I have discovered that I am stubborn when it comes to something I want, no matter what others may say. After all the fuss and dogged determination to have the sleeve, I have done something for myself that is sane, healthy and relevant.

Yes...great question.... Many things have changed for me... I can eat a few bites and walk away without eating the whole rack of ribs, I used to love, love fried greasy foods and now the smell of oil makes me nauseated. I still love chocolate!!! Still love veggies. And finally I am not as big boned as I thought! Interesting what I look like with bones showing! Again thank you for this question!

I realized my hip bones are very close to my ribs. I really hope it's not abnormal. Lol

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
