I think that's what my bmi is now that I have lost 32 lbs. I am glad I have the band. I know I have never been able to keep weight off before. I can't over eat now. It's painful! The band keeps my portions tiny and keeps me from eating the wrong foods.

I am not sure what my BMI was but I know it was under 40. Maybe it was 37. I am 5'4 and weighed 226 twenty months ago. I now weigh 150. I got down to 142 but..............I'm working on getting another 15 pounds off before my Tummy Tuck in July. I didn't lose much weight for the first 6 months because I have a "moody" band. It has only been at the "sweet spot" for maybe 4 months out of 20. Mostly it has been too loose or too tight. It is during the times when it is just a little too tight, meaning I mainly have liquids and Soups, that I lose the most weight. Until I could "get" with that, I lost very little. I am so glad we were able to get our bands even though we didn't meet the BMI guidelines. The surgery really has changed my life!

Hi Mischievous1, congrats on gettting banded! I cant even imagine the feeling of looking at food and not wanting it, not to much longer for me!

Mother's Day weekend was hard. The first night I went to my parent's they ordered takeout Chinese food and even though I wasn't hungry I would like to have tried some of it. The next day they made lasagna and cheesey bread and my favorite-homemade asian chicken salad with the crispy noodles and oil/vinegar dressing....it looked good, but I drank my broth and smiled and played with the kids...it paid off this morning, I weighed in and instead of gaining a pound (which those kind of weekends I would tend to do) I was down a few more pounds! That felt WAY better than any of that food would have tasted...and let's be honest, we already know what the food tastes like. If I really wanted to, I could have sat down and imagined the flavors of the food and not had to have eaten any. :)

I am sooo excited for you, please don't be scared.

Congrats on getting banded. I am getting so nervous I can barely think about it. How do you feel?

I am losing a lot of weight on this pre-op diet but I"m going off for mother's day. I'm at 180 now and that's with no band yet but I am starving all of the time!

I can't wait to look at food and not want it!!!!

I feel REALLY good, i'm going to work in 2 hours and completely feel ready....I'm so excited for you, you are going to LOVE your new band and you will love Dr. Ortiz and his staff.

I am still on pre-op but I went off for Mother's Day weekend. What a mistake! I gained about 5 lbs in 2 days. Now I am stuck with cravings all of the time. I am so glad to here that you were able to resist after being banded. Was it the fear of getting sick or do you feel less tempted?

It's fear of gaining weight!! I can gain so easily and it takes me a couple of weeks to lose what I gain if I blow it and eat wrong one day.

Hi y'all! I am so glad I found this thread! I am in the process of getting approved. I am 37 yrs old, 5-4 1/2, around 226, BMI 37. My insurance (Aetna) requires me to have a pre-existing condition to get approved... hypertension, diabetes, heart problems, or sleep apnea. My Internist had me tested for sleep apnea. I have it! I never thought I would be happy to be diagnosed with something! I need to decide whether to meet with my doctor for 6 months or a nutritionist for 3 months. I am not sure which is better??? I am in the process of finding a doctor. There is only one practice in my area that takes my insurance. I hope they are good. I am trying to find out more about them. I am excited about getting this process started...even if is it slow! I am ready to get my body back after having 3 children and yo-yo dieting! :-)

I'm doing great, starting to feel a little hunger but can't eat much before I fill up....my DH hid the scale from me...I guess I was obsessing a bit :paranoid ...LOL anyway, i'm still in love w/my band and happy I did this. My port area feels odd. It's a little itchy as the superglue they put over it is starting to peel off and it looks healthy so I push on it trying to "feel" the port and it feels foreign still...odd, I wonder if I will ever get used to having it there.

How are you doing? Are you feeling "good" health wise?

Welcome! I know how you feel, once you make the decision, you just want to DO it, it is hard to wait. I opted to just self pay as I was not willing to wait the 12 months my insurance wanted me to. THAT'S an entire year of my life that I want back now! :) So I figure by then, i'll have the 8.5k paid off! :what: I wish you the best, I think you will love your band once you have it and will be glad you made the decision you did.

Hey lower bmi girls! I used to lurk on this thread and havent checked it in a while. It is nice to see others with similar starting weight and goal weight, lol. I just wanted to say hello since I was here.

Mischevious, it took me a few months to stop being aware of my port. Now I literally forget it is there.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
