I had my surgery June 10th. So' date=' I guess I'm 5 days post op. I have not had as easy a go at it as it seems others have had. Got to hospital that morning terrified, cried when my husband said goodbye and they wheeled me back. Waking up in recovery, I remember crying out in pain, then I blacked out again. The biggest incision is the only one that hurts and it HURTS. Surgery was around 7am. My 1st walk was around 4 or 5, I don't even think I woke up till noon. I had a morphine pump I could push a button when needed. I pushed the button about 4 times total while in hospital. I literally could not wake up. I kept passing out, couldn't shake the anesthesia. Monday night my blood pressure was high and I kept a temp of 99.5. I also had a few times where i remember dry heaving. I would have waves of nausea, but none since being released. Doc came in Tuesday morning, saw I had a small blister on one of my small incisions, still red but a teensy bit better. Since being released, the big incision is still painful and I still need some help picking something off the floor or getting up from laying position. I've also developed rashes and itch like crazy!! Going to see my surgeon this afternoon. My last antibiotic before leaving hospital was levaquin. Some people think that may have caused rashes and itching or it could be from morphine or blood thinners. Who knows, but it's driving me crazy. I'm only getting about 30-40 oz of liquid in. Gas SUCKED for several days, gas x strips do help. Today is better from gas though. I haven't felt hunger and have to force myself to drink. Hospital stay, I probably didn't need to pack anything other than a robe. I am ready to fast forward a couple weeks. I had severe buyers remorse, still do a little but I know it's got to get better and this too shall pass.[/quote']

Proud of u. Sending hugs & prayers.

Sounds horrible:( I was also sleeved on the 10th. I didn't have any serious complication but I too slept for several hours after surgery. I didn't wake up until 8 or 9 pm. I had a fabulous team at Marina Del Rey hospital. I wasn't in any pain. I have to say that since I've been home I have some mild to strange pulling pain in the belly area. Which also happens to be the site of my biggest incisions. So getting out of bed is difficult for me. I feel like I have to hold my tummy and stand up straight slowly. It's getting better as the days pass. I know our pain and suffering has its rewards so I keep my eye on the prize and hope for it to come sooner then later.

Good luck on your journey:)

Hi all. Got sleeved on the 11th and home yesterday afternoon. Feling pretty good. Cannot take the heavy pain meds because I fall asleep!! Trying to just take liquid tylenol. On the all liquid stage 2. Only issue is diarhia after I "eat". I think this is normal though.

How's everyone else doing?

I changed my ticker. I started my journey at 289, back in April. But when I had surgery, on Monday, I was 275. I did not want to count the weight I lost prior to surgery on my ticker. I want the ticker to be only from my surgery. I want to see how much the surgery has helped me loose. I do acknowledge that I lost 14 pounds before surgery, but not counting on the ticker.

Are you having any troubles getting fluids down? I get a weird feeling every time i take a sip

Me too I can only eat the sf pop sickles. The chicken broth made me want to vomit. Drinking Water is very hard. I am eating 2 pop sickles an hour just to keep hydrated.

Congrats to u!!! Have u tried the Isopure Protein Drink? I think them frozen would taste like sf popsickles. Then

u 'd get your Protein in also. Just a thought.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
